Of course we should, the US is not really at war, they are a operating in a police state. That fact alone is enough for us to honour our committment to desertees.

I thought that this time that Congress actually gave the go ahead for war in Iraq, unlike Vietnam. So isn't the US "actually" at war?

I have property up north available to any that wish to leave the war mongering...

Heck, South and Central Ontario is full of American expatriots that left because of Vietnam and they just decided to stay

My buddies.. get a life.. not even close.. this is a discussion, lets not go over board here..

If you want to tell the truth, most of the US Citizens are against the "war" in Iraq, because they see as it is an oil grab.

And since when did Sadam become Bin Laden...

Canada was right in not joining in.. the war has produced nothing more than proving that G. W. Bush is as arrogant as his father was.

Where are the real hero's, those brave men and women who defend a country, you sure the hell are not one..

The USA is at war. They apparently have 2 draft bills that are going throught the motions in congress. One of which covers people up to 39 years of age. Things will get worse before they get better in the police state to our south.

Well, in Canada, as is in any civilized country, we still believe in the due process of law, innocent until proven guilty, freedom of religion, soverngity of nations..

I think its call the Magna Carta.. the very foundation of your "Declaration of Independence"

As Michael Douglas ( the actor ) said in the American President:

A true is American is someone who defends with his dying breath the rights of another person well that person burns an american flag.

What happened to the rights of the other countries.

I know that I should stay out of the but WTF.

In my humble opinion there is a world of difference between the draft dodger of the of the Vietnam era and the deserter of today.

The Vietnam guy just did not show up when he was called. The deserter not only signed up but trained, lived and became your friend. You were taught to rely on him as he relied on you. But when the shit hit the fan, he ran.

Personally, I would not take part in a female "circumcision" or stand by to watch it being done. So why would I want to go to another country and shoot someone?
Then stand up for your beliefs and face the consequences - don't run off to another country to avoid responsibility for the decision that you wish to make.

There is no comparison between these cowards and Vietnam draft dodgers. Draft dodgers were not professional soldiers - they were regular people being told that they had to go to war. There is a clear difference.

I have no problem with these people refusing to fight - but they need to have the courage of convictions to face the fall-out of that decision!
