don't forget to bring your snark call
Naw, the truly glibless snark hunter learns to create their own call, without resorting to artificial devices. Granted it takes more time, but perseverance is what it's all about.

Tommy

You know the one think I disagree with is drugs. Unless you actually need them I think you can go without taking meds, for instance my son school think he has a hyper disorder and childerens aid got involved and made him take unnessarry meds when in fact he was boarded at school. So they put him up a grade and now he is doing better. He is off the meds and childen Aid siad sorry. Depression you can go without taking meds take it from me I learned how to live with it without taking meds and I am a lot happier then I was on them. So mabey Tom may have a little point, but he is losing his mind.

There is no doubt whatsover that what Tom Cruise said has some merit. But to use a blanket statement saying that anyone undergoing psychiatric treatment is wrong is very irresponsible.

Look, Tom Cruise HAS made some great movies:

Last Samurai
Magnolia
Minority Report
Jerry Maguire
Vanilla Sky
Top Gun
Cocktail
Risky Business

Yes, he's eccentric. But compared to other nutcases in Hollywood, he's not that far from the norm.

The media likes to blow things out of proportion to make money. So it's kind of hypocritical of them to criticize Tommy.

Cruise loses control
BANG
June 27, 2005

(BANG) - Tom Cruise lost his temper during a heated TV interview after he was asked about anti-depressant drugs.

The Hollywood actor lashed out at America's NBC 'Today' talk show host Matt Lauer.

Cruise's verbal onslaught came just weeks after the Hollywood heavyweight criticised women, including actress Brooke Shields, who took medication for post-natal depression.

In the heated exchange, the actor, who as a Scientologist is fervently opposed to all mind-altering substances, told Lauer to "be more responsible" when talking about drugs.

The presenter had argued he knew several people who were helped by anti-depressants and suggested the drugs, including popular medication Ritalin, could benefit sufferers.

But Cruise retorted: "Matt. Matt. Matt, you're glib. You don't even know what Ritalin is.

"If you start talking about chemical imbalance, you have to read the research papers on how they came up with these theories.

"Psychiatry is a pseudo science. She [Brooke Shields] doesn't understand the history of psychiatry. She doesn't understand in the same way that you don't understand it, Matt.

"You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do.

"Just knowing people who are on Ritalin isn't enough. You should be a little more responsible."

Earlier in the interview Cruise denied his romance to Katie Holmes was a publicity stunt.

Yes, and taking an Aspirin everyday will lower your chance of a heart attack. Maybe stop supersizing french fries would do the same thing.

I agree with Tom Cruise that there is way too much Ritalin for kids. It's a result of kids coming home from school, both parents are working, kids snack on chips and play xbox.

Whatever happened to jumping on your bike to visit friends to play road hockey? That would balance out your kid, not ritalin (not to mention that it is even more difficult to get your kid off ritalin).

I must confess I completely under estimated that Katie Holmes gal. Not even Mimi, Nicole or Penelope managed to make him into a babbling crazy like that.

If the CoS thingy works for his head, fine. Making public statement as such,

" Psychiatry is a pseudo science."

does makes one goes Hmm...

Basically he jumped on Oprah's couch and professed his love for Katy Holmes. His overexuberance has lead to many to speculate that it was all a shameless publicity stunt for his new movie.

Tom Cruise is told by everyone around him that he is the greatest. Unfortunately, he believes all the ass kissing suck ups. He's just a pretty boy that won they luckiest pretty boy contest. If brains were dynamite, Tom Cruise, Matt Lauer, Brad Pitt and others don't have the brain power to blow their own noses.

I used to give him credit for keeping his mouth shut, but now he thinks he's a smart as all his ass kissing yes men are telling him. I can't believe we make millionaires out of these pretty boys who just happened to be in the right place at the right time, BY ACCIDENT!!!! If I had 100 million dollar movie budget, I'd look hot too!!!!

From www.defamer.com:

A current Scientologist who has reached the level OT-V, and who also spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that considering the amount of time Cruise has been in the church, an OT-VII status seems probable. And Stephen Kent, a professor of sociology at the University of Alberta who has published articles on Scientology and Hollywood, also said that Cruise’s behavior strongly suggests OT-VII.

Cruise is acting as though he “feels he’s more in control over his environment and can convince more people to look into the organization,” Kent said. “In the high OT levels one supposedly gains the skills to master one’s universe. One is removing countless entities that have been holding people back. Cruise feels that he has freed himself from thousands of errant thetans, and he seems to be in a kind of euphoria he hasn’t experienced before.”
