I want to see what my SO was surfing last night. She says she just stumbled on a questionable site that a friend recommended. I want to see how long she was logged on the site. How do I check the internet history? Please provide straightforward instructions.

In internet explorer ckick on "history" and a side bar should open listing the sites that were visited each day for the last while. As long as you haven't gone in to clear history the sites she visited should be listed.

First off, the History function won't tell you how long she was on for.

Second off, is it really any of your business?

Flooey!
Such a bloody bunch of judgemental hyprocrites on this board. Did I ask for a lecture? It is my computer, my internet provider and my telephone line. I think I have a right to know.

If you saw someone surfing kiddie porn or snuff sites, would you want to know? I would like to know if the person sleeping beside me is disturbed enough to look at these sites for an extended period of time. She said she stumbled across them accidently.

I asked her. She said she stumbled upon it by mistake. I just want to see how long she stayed on the site once she realized it was a snuff site. She has always been a little extreme, but that is too much for me. I am outta there if this is what gets her off.

Who cares about that stuff??... I thought you might be worried about a real problem.. like if she was having an affair online

Are you married.. or even common-law???.. then the computer is only 1/2 yours along with the isp and phone line.

Personally whenever I have used a computer that others have access to, at a cafe, I always erase the history and the cookies when I am finished.
Don't you just love the legal experts on terb who nothing about the law but continue to spout out erroneous info? WYD might want to speak to family law lawyer about the 50/50 split in Ontario.

And perhaps I am in the minority, but if someone is using my home computer to access sites with illegal content, I want to know before the police come calling. Kiddie porn is taken more seriously now than ever.

Sasha, that's really mean.

Fernie, so are you worried about snuff (most of it is fake) or kiddie porn? And shouldn't you be worried about your SO seeing your surfing history (SPs, TERB, etc)?

Given this thread and your other "Feeling bitter" threads, you probably need to get laid, soon.

Actually, I'm feeling a bit of OTR lately. (And no smart ass comments please)

Temporary Internet Files

For Internet Explorer:
If you open the 'Tools' menu and open the 'Internet Options...' dialog box, then click the 'Settings...' button you will get another dialog box with a 'View Files...' button. Click on that and every file from every site visited since the last time the cache was cleared will be there.

You won't be able to see how long somebody surfed, but you'll get a good idea of what they were looking at.

You can delete these files by pressing the 'Delete Files...' button on the first dialog box.

perhaps your next posting should explicitly state technical details only and opinions forbidden as then you won't need to freak out on your fellow TERB members. By saying you want to spy on your girlfriend, you should have expected someone to take the point of view that it is not a nice thing to do. I let my friends surf the net and have never had the urge to check on thier habits DESPITE the fact that the phone line, ISP and computer is mine. I do have a simple suggestion on how to guestimate how much or little a site has been looked at... but your response to my comments is needed first....

your welcome Mr Social Skills

... at the next terb party you'll be the guy cryin' in his beer,"my girl just up and left me,why me, i treated her great." Because if (as you state in a different thread)the party of TERB people is pathetic, you'll definately fit right in.

My guess

I am assuming that you are not older than 32. Get some life experience, wisdom and maturity before you get back to me. This is tiresome. I feel the need to justify my life to no one on TERB, least of all you.

Yup its mature men that spy on thier girlfriend instead of talk or say "my computer,my ISP, my telephone line" me me me. I'll bet you have never grown out of the "i dont wanna play and I'm takin' my ball too " kind of guy. 32 was a while back but I'm sure I was your present day match for life experience, wisdom and maturity when I was 8. I just hope that the other TERB people who you asked for spy help read how you labeled some of them as pathetic. Asking for computer help from people you regard as pathetic, now THATS being a hypocrite. But as we are making assumptions about each other, I'll share too. You probably have a hard time making friends and a REAL hard time keeping them (once they actually get to know you). Thanks for making my 200th post be about your wonderful personality,LOL

Fernie...I understand your concern regarding your girlfriend, and I would feel the same way. What I don't get is your hostility towards the rest of the board. I mean, in another thread you basically called the guys that go to TERB parties pathetic losers with no life outside of the hobby. If you have so much contempt for the people who frequent this board, then fucking leave...we don't need your brand of bullshit...
