You are deferring the point that I made for your convenience. You also asked me to quote you, and I did and you made post but chose to ignore it and make a joke instead of admit you were wrong. .......
Huh? you totally lost me on that one........what point I made for your convenience?

Where did I ask you to quote me?

*scratches his head*

For your second point: please go back and do some research, Rubmeister. Moraff, SC Joe, and many others disagree with me on many points and all the time their's and my responses are (for the most part) always cordial and respective. Wonder why that is? Because they have never denegrated into name calling (ok RUb did a couple of times but we discussed that in pm and can to a respectible conclusion)

Ah, so that's how you want to play it?

Ok you *&*&@&*@ ass*(&*&@ no b*&*&(& miserable waste of *&(&*@ anytime you want to *(&(*&@# your *(&)(*&@ in **** life, just let ** know

So to get around insulting someone I just have to do like you do?

This is kind of fun, trying to find ways of insulting someone without actually coming out and saying it....I think I found a whole new hobby! Thanks

Not that I'm saying someone is a waste of air or anything, but if the shoe fits, wear it?

Not that I would wish syphillis on anyone, but people who play with fire often get burned?

or how about (and this is my favourite lol)

Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with it, but if one likes getting anally reamed by 300 lbs transvestites while going bareback they will sooner or later catch something.

LOL I can do this all day!!!

BTW Hunter? I thought you had me on ignore? Guess your obsession got the best of you did it?

You ask for me to show where you called a person sitting in traffic an idiot. I did that, but instead of saying, okay you're right. You go on and on your post justifying your reasons{need} to call people an idiot. It is fine Tboy, that is how you are.

.
Sorry, you quoted a post I made about someone hitting their brakes to teach someone a lesson, not the one I made about people who sit in traffic for hours at a time.

So again, please quote where I posted about someone sitting in traffic being an idiot. Since that was the post you were responding to NOT the one about hitting their brakes.

BTW: do you not think that someone hitting their brakes on a tailgater is (at least) mentally suspect?

Right there........

It is not just this, it is ANY topic that you have an opinion about. Anyone who does not agree with you is an idiot......
yeah it took me a while to find it, you're right.

The problem is I'm having 4 different convos at once lol.....

BTW: did you answer me? Do you think it's ok for an idiot (there, I said it again) to hit their brakes to teach a tailgater a lesson?

Let me answer that. No it is definitely not ok, unless you are sure you are just lighting up the brakelights without applying the brekes, in which case fair game. (Personally I wouldn't do it because I know insurance claims are not worth it).

Now answer this: do you think it's EVER ok for an idiot to tailgate another driver?

Interesting, but if anything the article shows the dangers of following to close.

The reason you keep your distance is because you never know why or when the car ahead of you might need to stop. How many pileups are made worse because fucktards like you follow to close. How about if a deer bounces onto the road, I've had many near misses in Newfoundland with moose. Or some asshole truckdriver has bits of truck land in your lap, or some kids drop a rock onto your car. Or someone cuts you off and you hit the breaks. The evil monkey that lives in your car tells you to slam the breaks.

It must be nice to live in a world where nobody is ever called upon to break without warning.

I guess when they tell you to keep two chevrons behind and all those driver licence training books tell you to keep the distance, it is just another example of the Amish Overlords trying to fuck us up.

If some asshole is willing to risk my life by trying to ram up my ass while driving, I think he should die. If you really want to get up somebody's ass, go to church and wessley.

I don't even know why I bother, you don't even understand MPG.
Nice one, Andy.

Either way, someone was killed for no reason whatsoever......
I beg to differ. If you had said "for no GOOD reason", I'd agree. Somebody pissed somebody off. We all make our decisions in life. As long as we can live with them, great. Like one other poster said, how bad can we feel for either one of these guys? Sure, one of them paid the ultimate price, but nobody forced either one of them into it.

What if the driver who died started the whole thing? No, he didn't deserve to die, obviously, but I can picture this guy in the afterlife (not that such a thing exists), kicking himself in the balls for all eternity for being so stupid. Too bad there aren't any do-overs in real life...

And yes, Tboy, when I heard the news about this today, I just knew you'd be blowing me kisses again, comparing me to these guys.

You can go ahead and call me an idiot again, just like you did in the other thread (although it's usually someone else who starts with the denegrating talk, right KWI?).

Well this happens all the time but it happen by Toronto this time.

In the USA theres 40,000 highway deaths every year, sure some of those deaths are caused by road rage.

Funny, everyone dumping on me for my POV in regards to slamming your brakes on unnecessarily in front of someone else, and how there's no possible way the lead driver would ever be charged with anything blah blah blah....

Guess I was proven correct eh?

"Winsor is charged with criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death and failure to remain. "

Two charges DIRECTLY related to his actions....

Now DS is correct, both parties were at fault for the stupidity of the situation but that doesn't excuse the fact that by his actions, Winsor caused events to unfold which ended in the death of the rear driver.

Which also supports what I've been saying all along: if someone else does something to piss you off? Let em go on their way and go back to minding your own business......

If you can find the specs on your particular vehicle you can find this out for yourself. Typically when a maker prints the specs on an engine you'll see things like: 240 ft lbs of torque at 3400 rpm 180 hp at 4100 rpm etc.

Those are the numbers that will tell you the peak efficiency of your vehicle. So for the above vehicle, you will get maximum efficiency at 4100 rpm, no matter what speed you're travelling at. This is where the engine makes maximum use of the fuel.
Unfortunately I don't have a tach so I can't be sure when I hit the correct rpm. I know it's possible to figure out what the relevant speed would be in each gear, but then I'd have to know the gear size and the formulae to use.

I'm lazy, I was hoping somebody had the info already figured out for me on the web somewhere. :)

I have posted here B4 that I drive the 407 at a constant speed of just over 100KPH and my mileage has improved more than enough to pay for my transponder and the tolls. By constant speed though I actual mean that I keep a constant pressure on the accelerator and I do not use cruise control anymore. There was an article in The Star or on CNN.com a coupl of weeks ago that discussed those folks who squeeze every MPG that they can by doing things like coasting down hills, drafting big rigs and NOT using cruise as cruise control automatically feeds more gas to the engine to maintain a constant speed when going uphill. They let the car slow down slightly going uphill while maintaining a minimum safe speed.
While I admit to having done it in my youth, drafting behind rigs is not a very safe course of action. You have almost no time to react to something coming up between their wheels (deer, debris, pothole,....) as well as being in the likeliest path of anything coming off their wheels or (in the winter) off the roof of the trailer.

Cruise control is less effective in really hilly runs because it can't look ahead and anticipate that a little extra speed now on the downhill will get you over the next uphill more economically. All cruise was invented for was to hold your speed at a particular spot plus/minus a couple of kph. I don't know if all manuals have it, but mine states that it is not advisable to use cruise in hilly regions.

Thanks, that's because I prefer having a lively debate rather than a childish argument. It's more fun and can often be educational for all parties involved.

Had a bit of a brush with road rage (or at least inattention).

Approaching an intersection at a moderate pace (because I know you can't make it on green from the last light w/o driving stupidly fast). Car behind following pretty close (apparently he doesn't know what I do). Amazingly enough light turns yellow and I brake at a reasonable speed. I just get stopped and.... yup you guessed it..... "crunch" from behind. Apparently (even though the light turned red well before I would have reached the intersection) he thought I was going to floor it and go through.

Getting out of our cars we survey the damage. Finding out that mine is just a bumper cover with some scuffs and a small tear compared to his crumpled in nose and fluid pouring out everywhere put me in a better frame of mind.

So we pull over and exchange info as he's going on about how he thought I was going to go thru the red (in response to my comment that I guess he didn't see the light change) and how he really didn't need this today. (to which I replied, 'wasn't on my plans either').

So instead of going home and finishing yard work I had to run around getting a couple quotes to let him know what it's going to cost him.

Mine's looking at about $700. His is going to be a lot more since parts for his car are a lot more than mine. There's a definite advantage to getting run into by a Porche Boxster. :) They look pretty, but they fold up a little too easily.
