I've only been to Hooters once, mostly I was supposed to meet a friend at what was recently (at the time) Fran's Diner on Eglinton. I got there early, and didn't realize it had been converted to a Hooters. So I had to wait for him for a 20 minutes (he was always late). It was a cringe-worthy place. Yes, there were some attractive waitresses, but I heard one dude ask a one how big her tits were....When he arrived, we took off for a better place...
All that being said, I am surprised it lasted as long as it did. Oddly enough, I used to vacation in the St. Pete's/Clearwater area in the early 80s, the birthplace of Hooters. There was a rival restaurant at the time called....Melon's....And what kills me about Hooters is they, at one point, tried to position themselves as a family restaurant...

They had their time in the sun. One Sunday while at a trade show in Dallas in the late 80’s the place was jumpin. Football was on the tv’s. The food was meh and booze is booze. The servers were slinging it as fast as they could…they all could’ve passed for Cowboys cheerleaders. I asked one what was her situation. She was on a 4 year university program. She said the job was covering it 100% and then some. She was doing 5,6,7 hundred a night in tips. As long as you weren’t in the kitchen the place was a goldmine.
20 years later I had a former Hooters server in my employ. She told me the same thing regarding tips. After she married and had kids she would still pull a couple shifts a month to supplement the family income. It was well worth it. Hooters always paid.

The first time I ever saw a Hooters I’d never heard of them. I was driving in the US and did a double take. Is that place really called Hooters??? Wow America you have a really weird moral compass. Escorts and prostitution are the Devil’s playground, but a commercial enterprise devoted to good old T&A, where it's perfectly normal to get pissed sexually harass the waitress?? Praise the lord pass the chicken wings.

This was an insane thing. I knew a guy who took his wife and kids to Hooters on a fairly regular basis. WTF man? I guess his wife clearly knew he was perving the orange clad asses and tight owl tees, but taking your kids? Creepy.
