You are a really stupid person. I never said I would make sure only informed people vote. However, that does not mean I would force to uninformed people vote. Those of us who are responsible don’t automatically vote on every issue just because we can. I work in an environment were we vote on a regular bases on different policies and regulations. If a vote comes up on some issue I know nothing about nor care about, I just abstain. Other responsible people do the same in many countries. If you know anything about the issues you bring up in this or the other thread, you would know that there are more than two voting systems in the world. For example, in the American system in many jurisdictions they vote for more things than your limited imagination can imagine, e.g. judges, shieffs, coroners, etc. This leads to very long ballots. Few people are so irresponsible as to vote for every position on the ballet (you likely would as lack of knowledge does not keep you from stating and opinion, no matter how little you know about the subject). Indeed, when I lived in the U.S. I recall seeing the posters someone running for coroner had put up and thinking that even if I could vote there I would have had to leave that spot blank as I had no idea how I would judge a coroner. If you ask the Americans on this board, I think that you will find few who vote for more than a handful of these positions. Even in Canada, I have meet responsible people who say they did not vote in an election because they didn’t have time to study the issues (I should say that I think the uninformed opinions of the people in question are likely better than those of many people who think they are informed). Indeed, I rarely vote for school trustees as I feel I rarely have enough information. The fact is that some people work long hours, have jobs etc. You don’t have to keep people from voting on issues they are uninformed about if they are responsible. However, given that you don’t mind stating opinions on issues you know knowing about, you would not understand the concept of a responsible voter.
