Whenever I click on my IE browser it opens up and goes to www.google.com (as I have set my homepage to google) however after about a second I get an error message popup that says "internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" IE then immediately closes and disappears.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Or what is the cause?

Try using mozilla firefox and import your favourites etc over to firefox. If the problem presists, could be your internet connection. Or save your faves and reinstall IE.

You can try this to get rid of home page temporarily to see if that helps:

1. Create a shortcut to the Internet Explorer executable and place it on the desktop or quick launch area.

2. Right click the shortcut and select Properties.

3. Change the "target" value to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome

Note: Substitute C:\ for the drive letter Program Files is present on.

Then if you are ok you can clear your cache and change your home page if necessary. Might help a little who knows..

actually guys its not just an IE issue, it seems to be a computer issue because I have netscape on my computer too but even with Netscape I get the same problem, I click onNetscape to open the browser and then within seconds I get some error message that says netscape needs to close down due to some error.

Check your Windows Event viewer and see what nasties are lurking in there..

I recently saw this error on a machine that had been updated to Adobe Acrobat Reader 9. Uninstall Acrobat to see if it goes away.

I did, problem went away. Reinstalled Acrobat, problem came back. Removed Acrobat again and re-loaded version 8 again.
