Even more remarkable is that Pete did it against the best Black pitchers and when relief pitchers would come in fresh from the bullpen throwing 130 mph in the 7th inning and fielders are taller, faster and wearing huge gloves. That is why Pete is better than Ty Cobb.
To be honest, I have no idea what this post is trying to say
Are you comparing Pete Rose to Ty Cobb? If so, then yeah, Ty Cobb didn't have to compete against black pitchers or against bullpens. Although to be fair, the way bullpens were used in Pete Rose's time was much different than the way it is now. Less specialization then. However Ty Cobb also played in the deadball era where there was much less power and the game was tilted to the advantage of the pitchers. I'm at a complete loss to your point about 'big gloves'. Sure gloves were smaller in Ty Cobb's era, wouldn't that prove that Cobb was a better hitter than Rose?
I don't think you can adequately compare the two hitters because of the drastic differences in the way the game was played. However if you did, by most statistical comparisons, Cobb is a better hitter than Rose. Rose played longer so he was able to pile up better stats, but in his prime Cobb was one of the top 5 or 10 best players ever.
Or are you comparing Rose/Cobb to Jeter? If so, then there's no comparison between Cobb and Jeter. Jeter's a great player, but nowhere close to Cobb. Although again, comparing the two is difficult because of the different eras of baseball. Rose and Jeter is closer, but I would probably put Jeter ahead of Rose because of his defense and postseason. Although you can make a good case for either.
Also no one has ever thrown 130mph in any inning
