So because I didn't take the vaccine means I'm a Trumper. Good assumption buddy. Now show me the the part in my comment where I mentioned Trump or MAGA. Your TDS is progressing.
I'm not sure some people see their compulsion to put everyone in camps.

Next time you're at the hospital (and hopefully not), but if you are, ask the Triage nurses about the rates of cancer they've seen over the years.
I was in a emerg over a year ago, I asked the nurse specifically if she had seen an increase in cancer over the past 3-4 years and she didn't hesitate and in fact, she was emphatic and fast, "yes a lot actually".
Age is the most significant risk factor for cancer. I know that's didactic. However, it leads to the obvious link between an aging population, increased longevity and cancer.

Anecdotes are good if they lead to systematic examination. It is the systematic examination that is the gold standard. Sometimes anecdotes are misleading. Murder is down from "the good old days". Yet people believe it's much worse.
Since I hear this repeated take on murder rates in various threads, I thought I would add a different view.

Since 2014, the U.S. murder rate has gone up. (The reasons aren't important to this discussion.) Someone might say the murder rate was much higher in the early 90s. That is absolutely correct, but someone under 45 will likely have a different perception.

Cancers are not diagnosed in ERs.
But even if this is true, thanks to our improvements in diagnostic methods and preventative care.

the medium is fine (as are all others) the fact that anyone with an opinion can spread misinformation is the problem. A lot of sadly misinformed people accept it as truth because it makes sense to them is dangerous. Again, the medium isn't the problem, the ones delivering some message and their consumers are.
I tend to agree with you, but you can overstate this point.

I grew up in a time when the experts at the USDA were telling parents to load their kids up with bread and cereal. As recently as 1990s, the FDA approved OxyContin without any studies of its addictive properties.

You can probably tell I am saying it is advisable to follow the money behind the "experts".

It's the only argument they have when someone disagrees with them or their bullshit logic. I'm Canadian not American so there's no way I could've voted for Trump. Trump also funded the vaccine to save his ass in the election so why are anti vaxxers also MAGA. It really makes no sense.

2014 was abnormally low. The trend up till then was fairly linear. You're right it did pop up a bit peaking in 2020 and 2021 but it moved back down since.
But the point is people behave based upon perceptions. And they get biased due to the cognitive heuristics. Hence the fear of airline travel v automobile travel and the general distortions the average person believes. Sometimes it's deliberate though.

I guess nurses don't talk to other peers in the hospital right? They just stick to their work areas, eat in their work areas and never go anywhere else in the hospital.

I mean I know you know everything as can be seen by your replies in every possible thread, but sometimes I wonder if you really know anything.

I trust science. I don't trust corrupt CEOs
I suggest avoiding family doctors and hospitals and instead consulting YouTube and Twitter for remedies. Perhaps if folks who don't trust are medical experts would stop using their services, it would free them up for regular folks. Just a thought.

Doctors were told by big pharma that these vaccines worked when they didn't.

Trump funded the vaccine because he wanted credit for saving a lot of lives. He's such an egotist. 🤦‍♂️

When someone presents a simple fact (the trend line for murder rates is higher than ten years ago) and notes that this can create perceptions for younger people, that's a fairly simple statement.

So no offense, but I think you are overselling cognitive heuristics in this specific case. Yes, recent data shows a dip in the murder rate, but it hasn't been long enough to declare a trend. It's also not lower than 2014. Five years from now it might bear out that people's perception of murders is exaggerated.

One doesn't have to know everything to call you on your right wing echo chamber informed conspiracy theories.

There you go pretending to know everything again. You may want to check on my political stance (check my posts in the political forum), I don't care for left or right, I talk shit about both sides pretty equally.

True but yet for no reason he still gets blamed for the over counted death toll. Covid is not on him. One other thing. Legacy media was preaching to their viewers to avoid taking because it was the "Trump" vaccine. Then when he lost the election and newly elect Joe Biden made it mandatory for federal workers the media did a 180 on their opinion.

Liberals don't read nor do they believe in facts. They just jump to conclusions and judge without critical thinking.
