Swanson has been very good and last night's tie may have been a good situation for him. As far as him being our regular closer in save situations, I checked his stats and he has 7 career saves in his 4 or 5 years in the bigs. It seems that he's mainly been a set-up man and has basically never been thrown into the role of closer. Would you feel comfortable with a guy with basically 0 history being thrust into that role? And then we lose our current Duane Ward setting up Henke.

And then what do you do with Romano? Make him the set-up guy? And if Swanson doesn't work out, how would Romano do if they wanted to put him back in knowing the team has lost its' confidence in him knowing that he's saved 22 out of 25 (I think that's what it is)?

I think Romano isn't going anywhere soon (or Swanson as the 8th inning guy) unless he has an extended bad streak.
funny story- my accountant looks ever so slightly like Romano…. I told him his this, and he says to me,“come on dude, he looks like a 70s porn star.”

I just don’t think he’s good for tie game scenarios. He has proven this time and time again.

Gotta agree with you on that.

That's why on my 1st post after last night's game, I said that Romano hadn't been in a save situation, meaning he was out of his element. I think that last night, they had other options. Pearson and his 100mph would have been a good follow up to Swanson and his slower stuff, even though Pearson got a little roughed up in his last appearance.

Save Romano for the saves.

Dan Shulman is probably chillin under patio lanterns at the cottage. He's still ESPN's anchor, with that rich coffee hued baritone of his.

Vlady goes Slapshot on a cameraman, I think it's rude. He should go back to the dugout and feel shame.

I told ya.

And then go figure, today he comes in for one out and found himself in a save situation with a four run lead. Comes in with his 2.79 ERA as if last night never happened. Sheesh!

On another note, Vlady looks fabulous. I’m starting to have visions and dreams of him hitting 15 over his next 25. How sweet would that be? Could this be the monkey off his back?

I had the radio on and heard someone from MLB Network say that Romano is an elite closer. They pointed out some deficiencies (some of the things you guys talk about), but still said that he's elite.

Just sayin' what I heard.

There's a saying that goes "Familiarity breeds contempt."

I'm watching on PVR and it's bottom of the 4th but it is 4:00 pm in real time.

Is anybody noticing my dark skinned beauty serving behind home plate? She looks amazing today with an all black mini skirt outfit, fantastic legs and some definite cleavage going on.

That is one fine woman.

Harry Reams!
Formerly known as Dick Long, played by Adam Brody (Jennifer's Body, Ready or Not) in Amanda Seyfried's Lovelace.

If you needed further proof that Vlady is the leader of the offense you saw it today. When he gets his mojo workin the team rallies with him.

In spite of what's been said in another thread, I like how Ben Wagner calls a game. He has a strong masculine voice, fans are spoiled, not every voice can drop down like gentle rain from heaven, like Dan Schulman's.

Wagner has paid his dues being the Bisons play by play man for 11seasons.

I agree he's pretty good compared to most. He's just not Dan who is one of the very best. Switching from radio to TV takes practice. Radio broadcasts are more descriptive and often one guy does double duty as play-by-play and colour commentator. Ben now does a better job giving the colour commentator enough air time compared to first few games when he switched to TV.

I've had my eye on her for a while now. Another reason to watch the Jays home games :)

I have a feeling we are going to see Marcus Stroman as a Jay in the not too distant future.

He was pulled for a blister issue in his last outing… but I would acquire him in a heartbeat. Easy mechanics, no stress on his arm, loves the Jays, would be a great 5th starter right now, buy Manoah time to come back, he is arguably having one of his best seasons ever right now, and has an attitude that would boost the clubhouse. They need a spark plug like this right now.

They could even have a six man rotation down the stretch if everything works out perfectly.

I’m still trying to find this lady you speak of lol I don’t see her. Is she a Jays dancer as well?

I’m sitting in this area behind the plate at least three or four more times this season. I’ll keep an eye open.

I think that he has an attitude that would be a cancer in the clubhouse. He's a me first guy and that's why they parted ways with him in the first place. Very talented but a handful to deal with.
I don’t think so. Didn't he have some kind of issue with Aaron Sanchez? Nothing that seven years later, wouldn’t mature him out of. He is now 32 years old. Big difference from 24/25 years old. And he loves Toronto. I’ll take his fiery attitude to wake up this team, since they are not fun anymore without the jacket. I don’t think being in a position to take themselves overly serious, has been very effective.

He is not exactly a Rob Dibble asshole. He’s just a little loud for his “brothers.”

The more mature with years point probably has some validity.
