funny story- my accountant looks ever so slightly like Romano…. I told him his this, and he says to me,“come on dude, he looks like a 70s porn star.”Swanson has been very good and last night's tie may have been a good situation for him. As far as him being our regular closer in save situations, I checked his stats and he has 7 career saves in his 4 or 5 years in the bigs. It seems that he's mainly been a set-up man and has basically never been thrown into the role of closer. Would you feel comfortable with a guy with basically 0 history being thrust into that role? And then we lose our current Duane Ward setting up Henke.
And then what do you do with Romano? Make him the set-up guy? And if Swanson doesn't work out, how would Romano do if they wanted to put him back in knowing the team has lost its' confidence in him knowing that he's saved 22 out of 25 (I think that's what it is)?
I think Romano isn't going anywhere soon (or Swanson as the 8th inning guy) unless he has an extended bad streak.
I just don’t think he’s good for tie game scenarios. He has proven this time and time again.
