Hi people,

My company has gone through various changes over the last couple of years, and it has been exeedingly unbearable to work there. My boss places way too many demands on us with less workers to do the job.

I have tried workopolis and monster and have still come up short. Does anyone have any ideas or strategies they could shed some light on? How do you make a transition to a different career in which you don't have the aquired skills for it? Basically, how do you sell yourself(no pun)?

Thanks for any info,

Max

Between a rock and a hard place
By the time a job ad makes it to the job search engines it is either (a) filled or (b) so inundated with applications it would take a bulldozer to wade through all the resumes. I suggest you scan the job ads but also start networking to search the hidden job market.

Mingle among the companies you eventually want to work for to see where you fit in with your career options and background. Ask some of the managers of the departments if they can spare 15 minutes - and dont even ask for a job - just ask about the work and skills needed to fulfil the requireements. Then tailor your resume to match what they tell you and go cold calling.

Hate to hijack the thread but.... its on topic.

Can someone please post the names of any high-level headhunters or executive recruiters in the Toronto area? I am specifically looking for firms that specialize in Director-Vice President-CEO/CFO level positions in Accounting/Finance.
