I doubt very much if people like you would have shown so much sorrow for Einstein death but Johhny Carson , well of course that's another matter.

Your opinions are your own and you are entitled.

However, to go into a public forum and state that others are 'lacking' - to belittle their opinions and actions because they chose to participate is to denigrate them and shows remarkable intolerance.

Like I said at first before things got out of hand I merely stated that I don't agree with making Carson seem like a God or a superhuman being . I don't believe then that I said people who want to go on a public forum were lacking . However someone did refer to me a a peabrain I think for stating my opinion. Sometimes things get out of hand and one is never sure who made the first derogatory comment . I just mean to state my opinion which still stands . Sorry if I offended anyone.

.....There are always differing opinions on these things....you may feel that mourning the loss of a TV celebrity is showing something "lacking" in their lives...others may believe that mourning the loss of a pet is "lacking"...still others may feel that no loss should be felt unless the person who has died is an integral part of their lives....all are entitled to these opinions...and people can deal with death..whether from close or afar.......any way they like...there is no right or wrong way to grieve a death.....sometimes it's great to have an opinion....but there is a time and place to voice that opinion...and sometimes it's better that you keep your opinion to yourself....

Boobear buddy, the tuxedo joke was a famous George Goble line, as told on J.C. one night. For the record pal, unprovoked, you launched attitude here, like a rotten egg thrown on a passing hearse window. If your looking for such negative attention why not just start your own complaintive thread where you can spew and leave J.C. to rest in peace! He was good and classy fellow with huge heart that everyone liked!

king of the late nite

definitely the best late-nite host of all time, incomparable, multi-talented, charismatic, displayed unique showmanship, no one else in " late nite" even comes close, in fact there not even in the same league as "Johnny", he was even hilarious when he was having an off night, he will be dearly missed.

I guess it's only ok to have an opinion if it agrees with yours. Maybe lacking is too strong ,like you said everyone can mourn who they like but I never will get this public mourning for celebrities. If you can't deal with an opinion different than yours that's not my problem but I will continue to express my opinion or leave the board. I do not mean to insult anyone just because I don't agree with their opinion but if people jump on my back and start name calling then I will reply likewise.

...Just because there is free speech, doesn't give you the right to say what you want , when you want...try yelling "Bomb" in an airport as a joke...or telling the customs officer what you really think of him... You're certainly entitled to your opinion...and unless you say something truly rude, I don't resort to name calling.....I think your place and timing on this were poor...and I don't get this "I have an opinion and I'll voice it when I want " attitude some have...like they say...opinions are like assholes...everyone has one....and sometimes it's just as well it remains hidden..or shown the light of day at another time or place.....

I don't no why I am bothering trying to make sense of this . If you can compare my opinion on this to yelling bomb in an airport , do I really need to say more. Maybe I'll start another thread , was Johnny's death more important than any of your family would be . I think not every life is valuable.
I personally don't care if the person is a celebrity, thats me ok.
Let me say it once more I actually liked Carson or what I knew about him from what was reported in the media . I am not making light of his death, is that clear. I am just not the type of person who would line up to put flowers on lets say Diana's grave . If this makes me a bad person in your eyes well I really don't care. Feel free to mourn who you want but don't accuse me of not liking Carson or making light of his death.

Learn to read. He didn't say you weren't entitled to your opinion. Nobody did. Even in my original post, I granted that it was understandable how you felt the way you did.

The point that is trying to be made to you, which you seem to have trouble grasping, is only that you voiced your opinion in the wrong place. If Johnny Carson's passing had an affect on others, allow them to lament his death without you harassing them for doing so. It is YOU who is demonstrating an intolerance of others' opinion by not allowing them to mourn.

Would you, or better yet, have you ever gone to a funeral of someone you didn't like and start telling everyone there what a lousy person he was and that they shouldn't mourn his death? It's not very different. Instead of saying it in person you're doing it from a keyboard.

You would have been better off starting a new thread talking about how you don't understand why people get so upset about the death of celebrities. That would have been perfectly acceptable and I suspect you would have had a lively but much more good-natured debate. Does that make any sense to you?
