Anytime a sport determines it's champion by a shootout, it weakens the sport. I'm not a fan of international hockey because of this.

We'll, my previous point implied that it takes a team effort to win the cup,and then you went on to say that the Rangers won the cup because of Messier's leadership. WRONG! The Rangers won the cup because they had an incredibly talented and experienced roster.

Of course it's a team effort to win the Stanley Cup. But, I challange you to show me a Cup winning team that had a weak captain.

Carolina last year.Brind'Amour is a good leader, but yet again, it comes back to having the talent around you.

The things is this. If Sundin doesn't have a good (not great) supporting cast, you can't lay blame on him for not being the kind of leader that could lead the Leafs to the Stanley Cup.

I would argue that Edmonton got to the finals in a large part because of Smyth's leadership. Everyone was surprised they got past the first round. On paper, the Oilers were not as deep in talent as any of their opponents.

Doug Glimour's and Clark leadership lost against Gretzky's Kings does that make Doug and Wendal bad Leaders ... No ...

Again, on ice leadership is necessary to win at the highest level. It is possible to lose the Stanley Cup with great on ice leadership, but it is not possible to win without it.

Sundin does not provide this leadership IMO.

This is not a matter of opinion. The Olympics features the best players in the NHL, thus it's played at a higher quality than the NHL playoffs which features it's worst players as well.

I guess you're too young to remember the exhibition games when NHL teams were facing the Russians. The Russians were widely regarded as the best hockey team in the world at that time. I seem to recall them getting beat by the lowly NHL teams. Philly even got them to leave the ice.....lol
