You were seven hours later than the first TERB thread on this. Too bad that lag-time didn't reflect research on the event or sober reflection on its insignificance.

The ticket says she was S/B on Duplex Ave at Berwick. Google Streetview doesn't show a Stop sign there, as she says.
She's saying the cop wrote her up for "fail to stop" at an intersection with no stop sign? If that's the case the cop is a complete douche bag. You'd think he'd know if there was a stop sign at Berwick since his station (53 Div.) is a block north of there and likely drives down Duplex every day.

no minor tickets to ambulance drivers

no minor tickets to fire men

also no tickets ever (even if they drive drunk ) to a fellow cop or even a retired one
You are wrong my friend. Cops can and do get charged for impaired. I have several cop friends and one of them told me either Peel or Durham (can't remember which) have an ongoing contest to see how many Metro cops they can nail for DWI. I'm sure many get a pass when they're borderline but they can and do get charged.

A 22-year veteran Toronto police officer was arrested early Thursday morning on impaired driving charges.

Toronto Police Detective Paul Cargill, who was off-duty at the time, was arrested for having a blood alcohol level of more than 80 mg after police responded to reports of an impaired driver on the Don Valley Parkway at roughly 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

“It’s uncommon,” said Toronto Police spokesman Kevin Masterman, adding that it is police procedure to release the name and charge of an arrested officer.

“Police officers are not treated any differently than the public.”

A Toronto police officer has been arrested and charged with drunk driving following a weekend collision in the city’s west end.

Police say they responded to a single-car collision at 2:49 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Dundas Street West and Bloor Street West.

The driver, Constable Ravneet Dhillon, 25, a police officer with two years of service, was charged with impaired driving. Const. Dhillon, an officer attached to 14 Division, was off duty at the time.

He will appear in court at Old City Hall on February 7 at 11 a.m.

The Peel/Metro thing has been on for years, same with OPP/Metro. One of Metro's Police Association facilities is next to the 401 an the OPP love to sit and wait for the exiting members to hit the 401 after an event. Fish in a barrel time.

She concedes that she did “rolling stops,” not “complete stops,” at other stop signs along her route to city hall. At Duplex and Berwick, though, there is no stop sign in the direction in which the ticket confirms she was travelling.

Stintz, a twice-a-week cyclist, posted a photo of her ticket on Twitter. She tweeted last year that she had received a warning for a similar alleged violation, writing: “Just got pulled over by Toronto’s finest for rolling through a stop-sign on my bike. Pls cycle safely ;).”

the "ticket confirms" and "for rolling through a stop-sign on my bike" do not jibe. you can't confirm something that hasn't been said. i don't know cop-speak but for all i know, the cop might testify in court that she came off berlick and headed s/b on duplex. beats me. i'll wait till someone asks her for details on camera.

The only thing that makes sense is that she was traveling west on Berlick and failed to stop before turning south on Duplex. Google streetview shows no stop signs north/south on Duplex at Berlick nor any road markings (white stop lines) which are present at every other intersection along Duplex that has stop signs.

Seems that Karen, riding her bicycle, decided to break the law today and disobeyed a stop sign. She was suitably charged by the Police! Wonder if she did it to gain sympathy for her Mayoral run!

The Liberals want their bikes....but they can't break the law as well :)

Funny how the media jumped all over Ford back in the day when he was caught reading in a car. It was suggested he needed this, needed that, needed a driver. Etc etc etc. The Liberal media was all over him.

Not a peep on the Stintz matter!
Hey fmahovolich, why do use so many exclamation points in your posts? You write like a girl!

Furthermore you should change your moniker, as your shameless and idiotic propaganda is an insult to Frank Mahovolich.

You should rename it to something more appropriate for you like: "Village Idiot of Terb", "Extreme Lobotomy", "Rockslingers' Brother". Something like that.

I'm going to have to agree with an earlier poster.

Perhaps all of us should wait with comments....until evidence and the court process plays itself out.

I will agree, Stintz, Ford, everyone...is presumed innocent. Perhaps we should all wait, as I will for further evidence IN COURT!

Do you get this worked up about speeding tickets? Do you yourself ever drive faster than the speed limit?

Yes I speed...and would say I'm not as worked up about the FAIL TO STOP by Stintz as others (ur self Fuji lad) was about Ford reading while driving.

you make no point.

but like I said, lets not be hard on STINTZ and Ford , until evidence is put forward in court.

You are right about the
absence of a stop sign in Google street view. I have been told that it was an intersection that was controlled by a three-way stop at one time. Also, the street view can be about 3 to 4 years old. We don't know if they had installed a stop sign at that intersection since the time that they took the street view photos. The only way to confirm is to have been at the intersection at the time of the alleged violation. What we can see is that there are stop signs one block north and one block south of the intersection. Even if the cop made a mistake on the summons, the Crown can still amend it to say that she was at either intersection at the time. That has been a change made by the Province a while back to ensure n traffic court that, even if the defendant is innocent, they can still enter a guilty conviction of she doesn't have a credible, independant witness who was there to see it all at the time of the alleged violation. In other words, the cop always wins at the policeman's ball.

I have no doubt that Stintz did a rolling stop, which is less of a safety issue than speeding by 10 or even 20 on the 401 which itself is not a big deal.

Reading or texting while driving really will get someone killed though. It is worse than driving drunk. People who text or read only while stopped at a light maybe not so much but if you are rolling and reading you are a menace.
