I know Shanny will be gone for sure. Marner and Nylander contracts won't be moved.
Domi hasn't done shit other than game 2 and taking dumb penalties. I hope they don't resign him but they will.
Shanny is sticking around. For some reason he's weathered the hurricane. I can't explain it.
Hockey teams are built starting from the goalie out.
This team was built ass backwards.
We don't have a #1 goalie no real #1 dman.
Next year will not be any better.
We need the Marner and Tavares contacts to expire.
Unfortunately we can't keep Marner. Too much $$$ and he couldn't rip himself out of a wet lawn bag.
Get a real #1 goalie and 2 true # 1 dman. Until then just the same old misery!

Yes because playing Florida Carolina or the Rangers would be so much easier.
Toronto has enough $$$ to retain some salary.
Think of what they can buy with what’s freed up.
Who owns the Leafs?
Sportsnet and TSN are owned by Rogers and Bell respectively, who together have an 80% ownership share of the Leafs. it's a conflict of interest but it's a profitable partnership.
This is why Sportsnet and TSN promote the Leafs as Stanley Cup contenders every year. As broadcasters their business model isn't to provide objective sports coverage of the Leafs, it's to promote the team for business and shareholder benefit.
One of our frequent posters was excitedly quoting Craig Button a week or two ago as saying the Leafs have a chance to go all the way this year.
Craig Button works for TSN... if he didn't say that he'd be selling pencils on the street Monday morning.
When you retain salary you have to retain the cap hit that comes with it. Tavares is making $8 million yet his cap hit is $11 million. So if the Leafs retained $4 million of it they still have him as a $7 million cap hit.

Core 4 is really only Mathews. He and Taveras are men. Marner and Perimeter Nillander are boys.
And Taveras is past his prime leaving only Mathews.
