Samsonov was swimming in the first period giving up two softies, but he was great from the second period on and gave the Leafs the chance to win.
On the Kipper and Bourne show, they had a former NHL goalie explaining that Samsonov is playing hurt judging by his movements. It's an injury that a goalie can play with.

ROR is the first star for me, 1 goal, 2 assists. I believe this is the first time the Leafs beat Vassy twice in a row in the playoffs.

I'm so excited that the Leafs won. I still can't believe it. ROR scored the tying goal, and then won the faceoff, for the Morgan Rielly goal.
The Leafs got a break with a quick whistle or would have been down by 2, in which case I highly doubt they could come back. The better teams don’t always win in the playoffs and the Leafs were usually on the wrong side of the ledger. The Leafs will need to play a lot better as a team.

The refs tried their best to make it up for that quick whistle as there’s no way the Lightning wasn’t down by two men resulting from the scrum after Reilly’s hit. The hit was ruled legal but Reilly got a minor anyway. Stamkos was punching Matthews from behind at least 3 times before Matthews could turn around to defend himself. Stamkos should have got at least one additional minor.

Yes, I thought the Leafs were going to lose this game for sure. IMHO, Tampa is such an arrogant team. If the Leafs, could somehow win this series, then that would be totally awesome!!
No one is more arrogant than Jon Cooper, head coach of TB. Smoking cigar boasting they will win the cup again. I think Sheldon Keefe has/can out coach him and bring his ego down to earth, without cigar.
Go Leafs Go.

Anyone think Simmonds is dressing up for Monday's game?
‘I’d like him to but I don’t think he will because coaches don’t like to make changes when they’re winning unless necessitated by injuries. After all, standing behind the bench they won’t get wrecked or have to answer the bell when challenged; If the next game is tight, I don’t it will get out of hand, but if the Leafs get a big lead, I have no doubt Tampa’s goons will go head hunting.

The tying goal was a great play. A set play.
TB was sitting back. Covering all the passing lanes except Marner the outlet.
Nylander shot it at the pads for a rebound. In front of the net is prime scoring area and O'Reilly is good at what he does.
Of note Knies was on the ice for the 6 on 5.
Was Rielly's OT goal also garbage? He shot a wrister from the blue line.
You can't score if you don't shoot it on net.
There was no fancy play to make in any of those situations.

Stamkos mugging Matthews was a strategic play.
Under different circumstances that would have been an instigator and TB 2 men down but ref's won't call that.
Leafs were down a goal and needed to score.
It especially hurt that he wasn't out there for the ensuing PP which was dreadful without him.
Point probably also tried to feign an injury to his ribs after initially getting up and skating off to get a major for Rielly.
On the play Point tried to corral the puck with his skate as it came off the boards which is why he lost balance.
This one is on Point. TB knows this. Anything TB does is for the long game to win.
So no, do not dress Simmonds unless you're planning to win the fights and lose the game.
That will just play into TB's hands. Simmonds also takes bad penalties and TB's PP is lethal.
We can all see now the full value of Schenn. Hits were 62 for Toronto and 61 for TB

Like early in the TB series last year Leafs are pumping goals in on Vasilevsky.
Rielly 5 points +5 His +5 leads the league
Marner 2 goals 8 points +4
His 8 points leads the league. 2 more than Draisatl and Fox who have 6.
Both O'Reilly and Matthews have 5 pts and Tavares and Nylander have 4 pts.

I feel like throwing something at my TV whenever that arrogant asshole is interviewed. This dude has managed to combine arrogance with being a whiner.

Great analysis - I'd pay you than seeing that fkn clown show Ron 'I'll throw you under the bus anyday' MacLean and Kevin 'Here are the obvious' Bieksa and can't forget Elliotte 'I'm too cool' Friedman.

Leafs were fortunate last night. TB outplayed them for most of the game even with a less than 100% Hedman.
I fully expect TB to win game 4 by at least two goals and send it back to Toronto tied 2-2.

Have to agree, we totally got outplayed and still found a way to win.
Usually its the Leafs whom always comes up on the short end of the stick, we need these types of wins to make a run, but still one game at a time.

You know the Leafs had a coach like that, Mike Babcock but the shine came off him.

POP, pass off pads, a great set play, and high hockey IQ by the Leafs.

I can tell you American Leaf fans south of the border, love Sportsnet hockey coverage, far better than ESPN and other American coverage.

Hits:
Schenn lead the league in regular season hits and in the playoffs has 12 hits in 3 games.
Matthews for comparison has 11 hits. That is more than any TB player except for Paul, Raddysh, and Jeannot.
Knies has 8 hits in 2 playoff games. He had 2 hits in 3 regular season games.
O'Reilly has 8 hits in 3 playoff games. Regular season he had 18 hits in 53 games.

Bunting in his 8:32 TOI registered 0 hits although he did give one illegal hit. Cernak is not expected to play game 4.
Other than Jeannot, Cernak had the most hits for TB in the regular season and was their most used player on the PK.
Unlike Kadri, Bunting looks to have helped the Leafs with his suspension since it also brought in Knies.
Kadri didn't take out anyone and there was no one of relevance to replace him.

Bold prediction. Leafs win the series in 5 go on to play Boston and win in 6! If there was ever a year to get the monkey off your back and prove something this is it.
