I'm surprised that no-one has posted about this one. First the poor unfortunate young woman was stabbed to death in Shoppers Drug Mart a few days ago by a random maniac. Then, a couple days later, a young cancer researcher was also stabbed to death on Gerrard Street just east of Yonge. Apparently, the victim did not know his attacker either. From what I've read, the victim here was a Phd in Bio Medical Engineering who did cancer research and also taught at Ryerson University. He was known to work a lot of hours and went out for a walk to clear his head and was attacked and stabbed to death. I've heard it reported that some punk simply wanted to rob him and ended up stabbing him to death.

WTF is going on in the city lately?

This young man was highly educated and doing a very important job, one very few people could ever do and he is lost to senseless violence.

Here's a link to the story as posted at the CBC

Apparently the dirt bag who murdered this guy left the scene, went north to Summerhill where he had robbed another woman at knife point a couple of hours before.

I'm not a big believer in the death penalty, but instances like this, well, I wouldn't care if they nuked the perpetrator.

What's going on in our city as well as the rest of the western world is extreme ultra radical left wing liberalism. They're nothing but a bunch of fucking bullies who resort to insults, name calling, and shaming rather than debating the facts right infront of them.

We're being culturally enriched don't you know?

A very sad and disturbing incident.

There do seem to be a lot of scum hanging round the Yonge and Gerrard area the last few months. I don't particularly care when they eliminate each other, but when things like Tuesday night's stabbing happen, it's clear something needs to be done to get these fuckers off the street. I hate to agree with anything Giorgio Mammoliti says, but maybe getting rid of carding has contributed to the rise in violent attacks and murders in the city this year.

Economically disenfranchised people are the ones that commit violent crimes, right wing neo-liberal policy is actually the cause of these types of crimes and there is proof of that.

White collar crime is way more devastating to society's people on a larger scale and the perpetrators of these actions are nowhere near the left.

Liberal lefties will say that a few dead innocent people is an acceptable price for political correctness.

There is a homeless shelter for teens on the street where this man was stabbed. I am not saying that the suspect was attached to the homeless shelter, but you have to wonder.

They will also say the "system" failed those who committed the crimes. No mention of responsibility.

Just like how Affluenza negated that kid in Texas of any responsibility? Rich people are treated pretty well by the authorities here as well.

Just look at whose more likely to do drugs. Black drug dealers in Toronto fighting for space in the market, but no let's not try and police the demand too much..

Really Twizz. This guy was minding his own business. He was a cancer researcher. A contributer to society.

And instead you choose to use this topic to defend black drug dealers?

You are getting stranger at times. Hopefully in about 20 years you will have seen enough to realize how wrong some of your notions are.

I used to work a lot of long and strange hours maybe 5 or more years ago. Easily 12 to 14 hours every day and often would finish at 11 p.m. or later. Often, I would be hungry and would drive over to Yonge and Gerrard to hit "the Big Slice". If you got a slice that was just out of the oven, it was great. I used to park my car on Gerrard and walk over. Right where this man was killed. So I know the area very very well. There were always dirt-bags hanging out on the street, especially at the Big Slice. They would sit in the doorway, they would come in and pan handle, or they would just be sitting inside the joint. It was a huge pain in the ass and no-one who worked there seemed to do too much about it. (As futile as swatting flies I guess.) I used to think that if they played classical music inside the place instead of rap music that it would drive the dirt bags away, but I suppose it would have driven the customers away.

Anyway, the area was always "edgy". That's the best way I can describe it. Didn't matter what time of year, summer, winter, fall or spring. It always had that same vibe to it. Strange given where it was - right downtown, Eaton Centre, Ryerson. But also Covenant House, dive bars, porn peep shows, and yes, ironically, the Big Slice (which really seemed to be the epicenter of it all).

It doesn't completely surprise me that something like this happened here, but it still shocks me. (If that makes any sense.) It's such a waste of a talented man. The guy was highly educated, teaching others, and doing cancer research and he's killed over what? And to be stabbed to death as well. Brutal way to go.

Could have been me, could have been you, could have even been Twizz, could have been anyone just out for a walk. Just a guy minding his own business.

They should throw the key away and lock that sick mother up. Forever. Very sad, Such a young man and most likely a drug addict doing the robbery.

Must be no crime in glorious worker's paradises like Venezuela, I guess.

In the meantime do you think the capitalist oppression means this hardcore criminal should get off scott free? Maybe instead of sending him to jail for murder we should pay him. Is that your suggestion? If not, what is your suggestion?

Shoot, another murder in the GTA. This time in Richmond Hill. Apparently, a son killed his father.

In somewhat related news, Dennis Oland found guilty of murdering his father (Moosehead Beer.)

Don't you just hate it when your son kills you?

Another tragic story. Husband (member of the Canadian military) and his wife found dead outside their building in the Bathurst/St. Claire area. Speculation is a murder-suicide.

Its sad but it happens- I have often walked along there late at night.

I listened to mccormack saying on the radio that these reason this happened was because not enough cops. As if magically the cops would have been exactly right there when it happened
