how many games does hyman get for the hit on mcavoy?
Hyman hit was late but not as malicious as the Wagner's attempt on Rielly. I give credit to Hainsey and the small Bruin (forgot his name) player standing up for their teammates even though both seldom fight. I just wish the Leafs had more fight in them before the scores went 6-1. Both Marner and Matthews didn't really want to hang on to the puck to make plays at the risk of getting hammered. Matthews had a couple of points when the outcome was already decided. Intimidation seems always work in Bruins favour at home.

I don't think Hainsey wanted to get in there but he had no choice. He wouldn't be able to show his face in the dressing room again. He would lose all respect with his teammates. Good thing Rielly had his head up but it doesn't look like he saw it coming until last second and it was too late. Could have been very bad. Missed his head by mere inches. He was surrounded by 3 Bruins. At that stage Bruins were looking for retribution and were trying to hit everyone so they weren't being selective. Just so happen Rielly was carrying the puck up the middle of the ice.

It's too bad Lievo wasn't a LW otherwise he probably would have stayed over Ennis who is a LW. Leafs will need to do something at the trade deadline. Babs already knows teams play heavy in the playoffs.

For what? Only being ahead by 4 or 5 goals? For any dirty paly non-existent in Rielly's game? For beating the Leafs in the playoffs last year?
Right after Hyman's hit. I'm beginning to think you don't know hockey.

Probably nothing.
It was similar to the hit Reaves put on Wilson. Got caught watching the pass. No suspension for Reaves.

On the play Hyman was hugging the boards in case it came ringing around there. Tavaras approaches him and turns away as the pass is made. Once Tavaras turns away he thinks coast is clear so he watches his pass and Hyman takes his shot.

Hyman suspended for 2 games. Should have known it's a former Hab who hands down suspensions.

McVoy's team has a 6-2 lead and he admires his pass, instead of looking to see who's coming. It was a late hit after reviewing the video but still you gotta keep your head up. When you have a big lead you can't relax, opposing players will be looking to stir shit up.

Someone of their choosing will pick a fight with Hyman next Boston game.
Does that mean the Leafs should find a goon to go after Wagner ? Are we going back to the era of
"Staged fights" again ? They already retaliated twice and it wouldn't be an honourable thing to do if they sent someone like Chara to go after Hyman. What about the McCavoy's hit into the boards on Marner ?

It won't be Chara. It'll be someone where it'll be deemed a fair fight and Hyman will supposedly have to answer the bell. Seeing that Leafs don't have an enforcer there'll be nothing to stage. Hyman doesn't have to fight if he doesn't want to but they'll be hounding him like SJ hounded Kadri. The whole Leaf team left Kadri on his own to defend himself. Think that is Leafs modis operandi. Ignore and play their game.

Unfortunately Leafs have a soft team so that's not a card they can play. Wagnar already got his tongue lashing from Rielly. That's the way Leafs try to handle things. With diplomacy.

When Marner draws the boarding penalty no Leaf came in. Usually there would be a scrum. Because no Leaf came in Marner gets a 2nd nudge.

With the makeup of this team, they should just stick to their strengths which are speed and finesse. The grit that they need to show is the will to take hits to make plays. It looked to me they were just trying to get rid of the puck in the last game. Toughness for this team is not to play scared.

a couple years ago when tom kaberle was playing, he got hit late from someone on new jersey, almost same scenario, i believe he got 3 games. mcavoy just missed 20 games with a concussion, and he takes a cheap shot like that.... what did you think the bruins were going to do? too bad shawn thorton wasnt still there, hyman would still be lying there. i like this hyman kid, made a mistake, but you still have to pay the price, onw way or another.

Back in those days Thornton would be fighting Orr or Fraser, not Hyman. You made it sound like that was the only "cheap shot" and totally ignored what the Bruins did.

I agree with glamphotog. There was no way it was 3 seconds. Don't know where the commentator was getting that from. Probably counting when it was in slow motion but even then he counted 2 and 3 in the same breadth because he ran out of time. .75 seconds is more like it.

They should have suspended Reaves as well if that's the case but I suppose because it was Wilson he plastered he got off with nothing. He was doing a public service.

The Leafs got a taste of what playoff hockey will be like against the teams that play a physical style. The Leafs happened to play their worst game against such tactics and I wouldn't be surprised a few more teams will try that against the Leafs. In Dubas's wisdom he believes all you need are just speed and skill. He may prove this to be a trend setter but in the meantime his players will have to show that they're willing to pay the price to be successful and not be intimidated.
