Been watching Morgan Rielly (Reilly?) since day one and he keeps getting better every year. Does he still have more upside?

Just expectations. The media too, because then the articles will come out.
Actually, I expect that Nylander has a verrry long leash this year. Any regular season deficiencies will be forgiven if he can be a good playoff producer.

Matthews - 7 years, $84 MM;
Marner - 7 years, $67 MM.

Who says no?
Marner possibly. ($9.57Mm a.a.v.)
Matthews possibly. ($12Mm a.a.v.)
How are the deals structured?
Is there lockout protection?
Signing bonus?
As much money paid out as possible before next C.B.A. so any clawbacks by the owners would not affect those dollars?

Matthews at least $14 million, Marner at least $11 million. Most of it paid out in bonus money. Will the Leafs agree? Probably not. If either one receives an offer sheet look out. If their agents are smart they will hold off negotiating till after July 1. This way a possible offer sheet can be used to their advantage, the Leafs would have no choice but to match any offer. It’s probably the only way either one of them gets maximum value out of the Leafs.

Imagine what they'd be paid with no cap. Tavaras apparently left money on the table and this was with a cap.

The articles?
Oh dear, not the articles!!
Right. Media and fan frenzy can make this city and team unbearable to play for. It can get into your head.

Here are far too many examples that I shouldn’t need to list any.

If they want to keep the team together for a run the Leafs may need to look at giving Matthews and Marner shorter contracts that run four or five years...if they do that and structure it with a lot of the money upfront they may be able to get Matthews and Marner signed for a little less with the promise of earlier unrestricted free agency for both.

Sparks looks like he always over commits and puts a quarter of his body out of the blue goalie area when he makes a save.....and he seems to lose the puck easily when it goes behind the net.

I don’t blame the first two goals on him though.

Just curious. It's still pretty early in the season but would Marner be considered a good candidate for the Lady Byng?

I felt the Leafs would put up a stinker vs Detroit, second half of a back to back and Sparks in net. They didn't play very well but their skill took over and they won in OT. A win is a win, so we'll take it.

How many times has Kadri hit the post or crossbar this year ? He has to be the unluckiest forward this year.
