..that he is a total cement head...he could have skated that puck arond the net and fired it out..he coulda turned and lifted it high..but no, he wanted to be a hero and blast it from 180 feet into the open cage...what a bum. If this guy's game doesn't improve soon, they need to talk to him in the summer and persuade him into waiving his no trade clause. He was so in love with the idea of going to New York during his contract negotiations...maybe the Leafs can eat a protion of his salary, and trade him for ...hell...I'd be happy with nothing at all at this point...

I sitting there with my buddies, when the Leafs made it 3-2, I was like they will win the game if McCabe is not on the ice for the last 2 minutes or so. I go to the washroom to spring a leak, and my buddies told me not to come out of the washroom!

Ok, Muarice should be saying something to the idiot. When Gill out plays you on defense you have problems. Holy Jesus, Mary and the 12 apostles, when will Maurice get in his face. 5 mil or no 5 mil, buddy has to be told to smarten up.

Should be a interesting game tonight, if McCabe screws up the way he did last night, they should boo his ass off the ice. I know hockey players make mistakes, but game in and game out at 5 mil a season?

On the bright side the Leafs managed to pull out 2 points, and Jersey is up on the standings, so giving up that extra point doesnt hurt as it would if we gave it up to Carolina or Montreal.

right now i think people would happily take his last season's performance at just under 1 pt. per game and forgive his defensive lacks. he had 68 pts in 73 games played (.93ppg). this season he's considerably lower at point production at 46pts in 66 games (.69ppg).

Scorers are scorers but you can teach defense ... So whats up with him ...

You're not listening to me, or maybe you're just confused.

Hockey sense is not about playing defense. It's having a feel for the game. Seeing how plays develop, knowing where to go, anticipating what others on the ice will do. This is one of the reasons Gretzky was as incredible as he was. His ability to read the game.

McCabe sorely lacks this crucial element. Throw in his deplorable later movement, and you have an asset for the opposing team every time McCabe is in his own end.

McCabe is 3rd in team scoring (while playing defence) and while logging huge amounts of ice time this brutal, brutal, brutal player is still a plus 6 on an offensively challenged team with a goalie who gets ripped as much as he does.

He may not be the next coming of Bobby Orr and he is overpaid but you can bet any GM would be happy to have him and if he was a free agent from another team and the Leafs didn't pick him up, most of the critics here would blast the GM for not getting him. (Maybe at $5mil)

Sure he's looked bad but the level of criticism is not commensurate with his stats. I'm not a McCabe fan by any means, I just get tired of listening to all the so-called "experts" here who can only criticize endlessly.

Seriously, if he's so BRUTAL and he plays so much (giving him ample opportunity to screw up) and he can't ride the coattails of a powerhouse roster how is he still a plus 6?
