I totally agree. McCabe has got to be one of the worst highest paid defensemen in hockey history! Sure, he makes the odd decent shot, but the averages are low, and by no means offset the damage he causes when he is on the ice. Unfortunately, until the Leafs managment realize this - the Leafs are doomed to never win a Stanley Cup. I cringe whenever I see him step on the ice ... wondering how long it will be before he screws up. If I made as many mistakes in business as he does in his job - I would be unemployed standing in the soup line long ago.

Trade him. For the sake of the entire franchise, just get rid of him. Even sending him to the minors would help the team overall. What the hell was he doing in Saturday's game, lobbing soft passes around the net, letting people walk into the slot (ahem, Crosby)?

Remember...."no movement"

You cant do a damn thing with this guy....cant send him down, cant trade him without permission, no waivers....no nothing.

Suggestion; SIT the fucker. SIT him, healthy scratch night after night, like Belak.....he'll BEG to get out of town after about three games because his giant ego wont be able to take it.

I used to defend this guy when his points outweighed his liability on D, but he'd have to be the season scoring champion for that to happen now.

Give the man some pine...or better yet a place in the press box....you'll see the end of him then

No trade - no one wants him. Swallow the bucks. Buy him out.......bring in my grandmother for free! By the way, she died 27 years ago. Bless her heart.

I hate this guy.

The Hammer
While McCabe is the pinnacle of the D problem...Hal Gill, Wozniewski, and Kubina all blow too.

I'd only take White and Kaberle if I had to move forward...3+ more seasons of this!

McCabe will never get benched, or go to the press box, or get demoted to the Marlies because to do so would be a public declaration that JFJ is a total fool.

Not that I wouldn't like to see him as a healthy scratch. Or a Marlie. It sure would send a message.

The rest of the team should hold him down and beat the livin' shit out of him!!!

Simon Gamache (sp?) played great. He's hungry, he wants to stick with the big club....

When Carlo C, comes back, Bryan should be gone.
No offence, but this guy isn't the answer either. I'm tired of waiting for this guy. He is either too fragile or just terrible luck. Maybe he just needs to be told by some old-timer to "suck it up" and get out there. The notion that he has promise wore off a few years back and if he doesn't do something soon, he won't be able to give an autograph away outside of Woodbridge.

i think what everybody is missing is that at the end of the year mccabe will have 50-60 points and that will be among tops in defencemen scoring.....not many defencemen in this league offer this kind of offence (lidstrom but he's a sure shot hall or famer) if some of you people would take a minute to look most high scoring defencemen are not necessarily the best in thier own end. take a look at souray now in edmonton. watch him for a few games and i swear he will make you think that mccabe is a defensive defencemen. the worst leaf on the ice is kubina by far and has been since basically the beginning of last year. if you are going to be bad in your own end like mccabe at least get you fucking name on the scoresheet other than a hooking or holding penalty. kubina should be relased, take the hit on the cap for the year and bring in either harrison, stralman, kronwall, or carlo c. the up side with all of these kids is higher that what kubina will ever bring to the table. its a shame cause he was like this the year before we spent a tonne of money on him so i guess JFJ did not do very good research. if you ever watched tampa when he played for them he was just as bad then as he is know. now leave mccabe alone until half way through the season when he has 30 points and is a +5.

Why don't you shut up and stick your dick back in McCabe's ass if you love him so much.

actually eric i did not say i loved mccabe - all i did was make a point that offensive defencemen can have a tendicy to look a little poor at times in thier own end - mccabe included. and my dick by the way is in you SISTER

He needs a minimum 65 to come even close to justifying a spot in the lineup, but even that is questionable if he costs the team about 3 goals every 2 games, he'd really need prime Coffey numbers to truly make up for it with offense.

.....not many defencemen in this league offer this kind of offence...
maybe so what good is that really unless you know in advance that you intend to AND can afford to have a couple of elite defensive guys to pair him with?

I don't have a sister. So that needle dick of yours must be stuck in something else. Probably your mother's ass, seeing that is the only woman that would get within a centimeter of you - which just happens to be the size of your digit.

By the way, what does "tendicy" mean. Go buy a dictionary.

The Penguins defense is known to buckle when under pressure, but they have Wonder Sid and the offense to compensate. The Leafs defensive coverage is equally vulnerable and ugly to watch when under pressure, but they don't have Wonder Sid or the offense to compensate.

When John F signed McCabe and Kabina for a total of over $10 million he had the right idea, conceptually anyway, that Leafs must play strong defensive hockey to be successful. The problem is neither is delivering to close to their fat salaries. Both should go in the ideal world.

Unfortunately, neither is likely to go as no team management would be as stupid as John F. To salvage his own blunders, he spent another $4 million or so + some 1st round drafts to get Toskala. But there is only so much a goalie can do.

So Leaf fans, of whom I'm one - we are stuck and our options are very limited. I'll attempt trading both McCabe and Kabina and hope for a taker - not likely. Failing this, I'll play either or both as a winger on the checking line, taking advantage of McCabe's powerful shot and both's sizes. I'll replace them with the younger prospects in the farm team, which Leafs have ample.

I don't know. The Leafs are in a bind. All I know is given the current roster and utilizing it the way it is, we are going nowhere. We have 2 choices: status quo and going nowhere; or be bold and innovative hoping that it would go somewhere.

Someone pleassee defend the Mccabe own goal?

I don't get it, he use to be good. He use to be able to play defense and score. Then he use to be able to score. And now he can't do anything right...

now boys....no need to get personal....

I know this has been said before, but if we're stuck with McCabe....make him a winger on the 4th line.

Anybody know if he has ever played wing at any level of organized hockey?
