Montreal has won some games in the playoffs that they should have lost and last night they lost a game they should of won. That's the way things even out sometimes. Although I grew up a die hard habs fan, I have to admit to being very ashamed at the antics of their fans over the last few years. And as many posters have said they do play very soft at times and the diving well that just drives me crazy.
I added you to the list because you're a staunch Montreal supporter, and just wanted you to show up win, or lose.kirmit129 said:
Yes, I do have a team, and yes the Leafs didn't make the playoffs, but I'll tell the Canadians, or Canadiens as you guys call them, are the "last" team I would ever support. I have never seen such poor sportsmanship from fans when their team loses as I see from Montreal. They are the quickest to jump off the bandwagon.
Why do they boo Briere, and Biron...is it because they are French Canadian and "not" playing for Montreal?

As both a FLYER and SENATOR season ticket holder I have no problem with the ole chant, BOOING the other teams players, or your own if they lack effort. I don't like hearing anyone's anthem being booed as soldiers have died giving us the freedoms we have and I find that disrespectful.
I hope that a few misguided FLYERS fans will refrain from retaliating for that on Monday night.
As for the HABS dominated game two...when you are down two goals pretty much the entire game you have to force the play to get back in it. Biron was certainly the best player for the FLYERS last night but how much of the Canadian "domination" was due to the FLYERS trying once again to sit back a protect a two goal lead.
The fact is that Montreal has yet to lead in this series (except for the final shot in game one OT) and have been forced into pressing to get back in games. When Montreal gets a lead, they sit back with four players across the blue line and play a stifling defensive system. The FLYERS have NOT given them an opportunity to do this yet in this series. Last night each time the HABS closed the score to one goal, the FLYERS responded by getting it back...then again tried to defend...
In the regular season the Flyers were 30-1-1 when leading by two goals, so it is natural that they would sit back and try to protect that lead. Unfortunately, they are only 3-3 in this years playoffs at protecting a two goal lead, and that is troublesome.
I am a bit ammused when I here comments about how "we domminated but Biron stole it for you"... I must admit it is nice to be on the stolen side of that argument as Martin Brodeure stole a few Stanley Cups for NJ while the FLYERS dominated the games and lost.
AND NO...I'm not comparing the two MARTY's...just stating how I've been on the other side of that equation for the 17 years I've been a FLYER season ticket holder.

The Flyers finished 6th in the coference only because they had lost like 10 games in a row, a terrible slump, they bounced back and here they are. I tell ya, the Habs better get going quick if all of you want to hear Mr Sidney Crosby get booed out of the Bell centre in the next series
the flyers are a slumping team. they almost missed the playoffs, just as Boston and Ottawa. don't make them sound better than they are.

They are chanting "biiiiiron, biiiiiron" just to annoy him. A tactic many fans of hockey cities uses to distract the goalie. Nothing wrong with ole ole ole. It show enthousiam from fans. So instead of cheering, they sing. If you find that it's wrong because it's distracting, then in football, the crowd should not make noise when the other team has the football and in Basketball, the crowd should not try to distract the opposing player when he attempt free throws.
Anyway, I sure hope Toronto assembles a cup challenging team soon. For Toronto is a hockey city and is in Canada. I'm going to remind everyone of this thread and what's been said when Toronto start their tactics.
i find Ole, Ole particularly satisfying when the fans do it in the 1st period and the Canadiens end up losing the game... it's really quite pleasuring.
i think Ole, Ole means let's make a date to go and flip cars in the streets, smash windows and steal DVD's from storefronts, start some fires and it's ok, because in the media they will say that it wasn't us that did it. CBC will say, that's not montreal hockey fans rioting... ok, who the FUCK's doing it then, BTW?

In one of the storefronts that was smashed, I noticed a mannequin wearing a Habs uniform lying on the ground. I'm surprised they didn't run away with it...or at least the shirt.

I can't totally disagree with the hooliganism in Montreal... it is freakin' awesome that they do have such passionate fans. it's too bad that it is not without a cost, but in a weird kinda way, it's great for the NHL if they stir up a little noise in Montreal... it made CNN.

Actually MERB has some photos posted of the hooligans and I don't think ANY of them were actual hockey fans... ONLY one in the seven pictures I saw had a guy wearing a Canadians T-shirt.
Just used it for an excuse...it's happened in US cities too.
i'd question whether your pics are from the media (ie, they put out the story that they want- ie, that it's not somehow CDNS fans rioting... whatever!)

Philly was lucky to hang on tonight, but it's the score at the final whistle that counts. I know the change of goalies was a way to spark the team, but on at least 2 of the 3 goals Price had no chance...he didn't see the shot.
