The fact is, the cops were probably so useless in protecting this guys property he had to take matters into his own hands. I love your desperate charge to make the cops the bad guys. Look at your post and see how semantically void it is: "probably so useless", and "feel all embarassed" blah blah. Realistically, there's no "douchebag cop behaviour" here. They arrested a guy for assaulting a man (and chasing him in his car LOL). Now he will have his day in court, where he will get the opportunity to clear his name and have his noble actions entered into the public record.
