I get the hypocrisy and, yes, Doug should fire him, but Pearson is open and I know of at least one private entity that is making a mint flying snowbirds across the border to mate them with their rvs and cars. AND couple of executives who hired jets to fly down to the Islands. It is just being done very quietly to prevent upsetting the little people.
He's not gonna fire him or he'd have to fire every MP that has made a COVID indiscretion and there are probably plenty.

Well, then he is making a mistake. This is the course that Ford has chosen and to firm up the ranks he needs a "letter of resignation" from his minister. Not to mention he needs to save face before the ordinary Ontarians who are most suffering under his foolish leadership. The Finance Minister needs to walk the plank otherwise neither his MPs nor the citizenry will ever again take him seriously.

Its all PR anyway, everyone I know who doesnt believe in the mainstream narrative have been doing their own thing on the DL or have flown out to warmer pastures like Tulum, Cancun, Miami, Dubai, Maldives you name it. Only sheep were naive to believe we were ever in this together or to take one for the team. Fuck that.

NDP is already denouncing Ford and co as we speak
They may be the weakest party in ON but if all the alt-left joins the alt-right in Ford bashing then Ford is truly finished and he has buried his party

The centrists would not dare vote Ford again, so chances are Libs will win next election
(Unless you think Peoples Party gets strong enough, or NDP somehow gets mainstream people to vote for them)

It should be an odd election

Doug Ford says he knew of finance minister’s trip 2 weeks ago, should have asked him to return then
Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he found out his finance minister was travelling abroad roughly two week ago, and should have pushed then for his immediate return.
Ford says Rod Phillips “never told anyone” he was going to St. Barts on Dec. 13, but the premier learned of the trip shortly after it began.
“I did call him shortly after he arrived and I talked to him and asked where he was. He said he was away,” the premier said Wednesday.
“My mistake. I take full responsibility. At that time, I should have said, ‘get your backside back to Ontario,’ and I didn’t do that.”
Ford said he will have a serious conversation with Phillips on Thursday upon the minister’s return.
Damage control since most of us said no way Ford didn't notice (which is what he initially claimed lol; now he "knew" but didn't follow up huh)

Ford tried to play the blind fool and got called out

Now he is trying to play nice

But the utter hypocrisy of his telling Hillier to not have Christmas dinner with family while Ford's own ministers travel international has cooked his goose
He is done

Teejay - Seriously this is what's actually happening in LA right now. How can you be so obtuse?
Ever notice its the Democratic states that seem to "always" get hit so hard?
Suspicious no?

But they are actually reporting 1,528 Covid ICU cases (42 non-Covid and 330 empty ICU) which is pretty impressive
I know they have a big population and all but I doubt any other state (incl NY) ever came close to those numbers

They currently average 31,245 cases per DAY. That is insane.

Even if non-Covid related, with that many people in care its no wonder they are short on supplies

Not really Florida and Texas are getting decimated by Covid-20, Ron De Sanctis is fudging the numbers.

Ford's image as a stoic leader in the face of crisis is getting undermined by swine MPPs - he needs to show some Harper. The Conservative PM put the clampdown on his MPs through two minority governments, no one made a move without him knowing about it. If Ford doesn't get it together he'll end up like he was at the Raptors Victory Parade.

The Iron Sheik was asked his op on IronRod Phillips, "he is asshole".

Ontario Finance Minister Rod Phillips has resigned after returning home from a personal trip to the Caribbean during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
Premier Doug Ford released a statement Thursday, just hours after Phillips arrived back in Canada, saying he had accepted the minister’s resignation.
“At a time when the people of Ontario have sacrificed so much, today’s resignation is a demonstration that our government takes seriously our obligation to hold ourselves to a higher standard,” Ford said.

And there you have it, Ford had to dig deep, but arrived finally at a correct solution and "resigned" his Finance Minister. This will act like a cattle prod right in the asshole for the rest of the Conservative MPPs.
