It seems after a terror plot was uncovered by Scotland Yard, liquids will not be allowed in people's carry-on baggage (in USA, but I am sure Canada will follow).. hopefully this is just temporary!

People flying out of the UK are allowed no carry-on baggage at all, for the time being!

Apparently detectors cannot detect some sort of liquid or foam explosives

""Due to the nature of the threat revealed by this investigation, we are prohibiting any liquids, including beverages, hair gels, and lotions from being carried on the airplane. This determination will be constantly evaluated and updated when circumstances warrant," the statement said.

"These changes will take effect at 4.00am local time across the country. Travellers should also anticipate additional security measures within the airport and at screening checkpoints"

i always have plenty water with me as i get dehydrated very fast and i do drink lots of water regularly, esp going to other side of the world, my whole family always have water in bag to drink on the flight vs the little cups of water that they give you every so often, and keep asking them about it is just such bother.
seriously what is gonna be next, no shoes, no clothing?

Im still laughing at the day they thought my digital camera was an explosive.. I spent 20 minutes arguing with them that my camera was NOT a bomb and I needed it and NO they could not keep it unless they were going to give me the $500 to replace it. They are getting insane.. seriously why would i want to blow up a plane with 15 people on it going to Fredericton New Brunswick:rolleyes:

LOL Since I have to travel alot for work, I have seen it all. I have been searched over and over it is almost routine for me now. I have had to take apart things, put things together, take things off, put things on...it really doens't end for me. I even got scanned for parts per million or something liek that where they check if there is traces of cocaine on your belongings. The fact I look like a criminal in my passport photo doesn't help though. LOL :p

The no liquids rule now also applies in Canada. No toothpast, booze from the duty free, etc.

I also carried a bottle of water onto the airplane, and thought it would be simple to take out a plane by filling a water bottle with a clear combustible liquid of some sort and injecting it under the cockpit cabin door and igniting it. Good they are controlling more what people can bring on planes.

but now come to think of it, I wouldn't mind if the stewardess had that rule.

This sucks.. speshly if you fly Air Canada where they feel the need to overcharge you for your ticket, put you on a shitty plane then overcharge you for a damn cup of water, and THEN lose your luggage(I have never once had my luggage show up with me flying aircanada.. and I fly alot). This is why when I fly within Canada I always fly WestJet and when I fly to the US I fly America West/American Airlines. They are affordable, planes that are bigger then a sardine can and free beverage service :D

I have to fly for a booking out west next week.. if they try to steal my bottle of juice i'll be a very unhappy camper. I have a mad addiction to fruit smoothies... I cant go anywhere without one.

what if you need eyedrops, or medication, or contact lens solution?

this will anger normal people enough to start hijacking planes
thats a good point. I always carry eye drops in my pocket wherever i go, cuz my eyes get dry and its also recommended to keep using after having laser surgery.

I have co-workers in New York right now and they just got "courtesy" e-mails from Air Canada telling them that electronics, including cellphones, will not be permitted except in checked-in luggage
thats what i was thinking too, when are they gonna disallow elec IE: laptops.
for a lot of business persons, not having to use laptops, blueberrys etc for more than a period of time it can mean a lot.

Seems like the authorites need to be thinking ahead of these terrorists and and have precautions or security procedures put in place Before they find the terrorists on a plane with whatever kind of device.
Went from an actual device to now using liquids, whats next

Well, if you need it, you can take it on:

"Passengers may bring aboard baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby or small child is travelling. Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket, insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines are allowed."

great, more chance for my camera gears to be stolen. I guess I'll just won't travel by air anymore. My insurance won't cover stolen/broken equipments if I checked them in, and unless somebody is going to cough up $10k should anything happen to my equipments plus the loss of income (imagine going to NY for a photoshoot and I lost all of my equipments), I won't be taking anymore assignment that requires me to fly.

Neither! LoL when they xrayed my bag it looked really weird I guess.. so I took it out and showed them, hell I turned it on and flipped through the images stored on it to prove its a phone. The moron in security didnt like it. Then I got drilled 'are you going ot the US to strip?' I was like 'isnt that a customs question?' Bleh.. they had to get the person 'in charge' or something. I swear it was just some newbie dummy that was on a power trip. I eventually convinced them im harmless and im going to Vegas on vacation. Stupid morons

Really Retired.....REALLY!
This is such crap. Just 2 weeks ago my parents went through security for a flight and they didn't even ask them to turn on their cell phones or the laptop they were carrying on. Now you can't even bring a damn bottle of water with you. I mean the least they could do is ask the person to drink from it in front of them to ensure it is actually a consumable liquid and not some kind of flammable.
Something as simple as water can be very important for someone to have. My father recently went through radiation for cancer and the after effects are that he has practically no saliva production. Even if he did board the plane right after drinking water he would NEED some within about 15 mins at the most or his mouth dries up so bad he can't even swallow. No planes I have been on start serving any refreshments that quickly.

About the contact lenses and eye drops, they just mentioned on the news that you can take the lenses and the case with you but you cannot take the solution. You can only take medication with you if the name on the label matches the name on the boarding pass.

I also went through the same thing with my camera just after 9/11. I never even thought while I was packing and threw my charger with my battery attached into my luggage and my camera into my carry-on and when I got to security they would not let me through unless I could turn it on, well no battery, no turn on! I had to get them to call my already checked luggage back up to the luggage counter, go back, get my battery, re-check my luggage, then go back through security AND customs AGAIN!

What the hell is this world coming to.

you can't ask a suicide bomber to drink something explosive and be okay with it if he does it.....lol

what if it won't kill you right away but will take 2 hours or so before you die....all of a sudden you got your liquid explosive on the plane
