Anyone else go check out the new casino that opened tonight?

Yep, went last night, pretty dead up until about 7:30 then really busy
New one looks really nice, brand new machines and tables, couple of new restaurants including a steak house and Timmy's
Some uber hot asian women there gambling
Spent 3 hrs, put at least a grand through the machines, left up $100
recommend a try, it was kind of Vegas North

Thanks yababy1. I wanted to hear another perspective.

Did you find it felt like a big square warehouse dressed up to be a casino? That was the feeling I got when I went through. When I think of Vegas casinos they have wings and areas carved out, helps with the noise levels I find. Toronto's casino is high ceiling and just one big room that even at 6pm was getting noisy is what I experienced, what was your vibe for the space itself?

I happen to be near by so I popped in right at 5pm for a quick walk around. The signage for parking was non-existent, so I parked for the Woodbine casino and walked in and over. It was silly actually, no signs saying 'new casino this way' - you had to ask and they said 'follow the red and gold balloons'. What's funny is there were more people in Woodbine then the new casino when I came through, lol.

New Casino is impressive. Everything is new and modern. The slots were impressive to look at, I don't play but I can see the appeal.

For those that play table games - lots of tables but time will tell how many dealers they were able to hire. I saw 10-12 blackjack tables going but it was still early in the evening on a Tuesday.

One thing I noted, like Woodbine - blackjack $25 and $50 tables were 6:5 blackjack. You have to play the $100 tables to get tradtional 3:2 blackjack if that matters to you.

Last note - didn't see any form of high roller room for slots or tables. I may have missed it and will check again when I go next. If true then that's a bit of a bummer. I saw a couple heavy hitters betting $2000-3000 a hand on a $100 table in the main floor with a crowd building around them, reacting when they won or loss.

Does this mean more out of province SP’s will be “flocking” to GTA? :ROFLMAO:

The 401-427 area will become our new heaven!

Do they have poker tables?
My question also. If not, no way would I waste my money playing slots or table games except for blackjack perhaps.
In my walk around the new floor I did not see poker tables or a poker room. No mention of it on the website as well.

The hotel construction is not complete yet and maybe there is a poker room in the works but that doesn't make sense to have the rest of the gaming floor setup already and not poker, just a guess since it's so new.

If no one else gives a confirmed answer here before I get a chance to go into the casino again I will ask a staffer while there and report back.

We will have to watch the outcall reviews to see if anyone has them to the new hotel once it's open. Guessing the casino hotel price will be high, I agree the 401/427 hotels will get a big boost from the casino opening up and would be good for business for the SP's as well.

How can they justify that? The house already has the statistical advantage, even at 3:2. That's B.S., but consistent with how our government gives us worse odds than illegal bookies and professional institutions.

It's wide spread in Vegas as well for lower limit tables, at least in the casinos on The Strip.

Woodbine has had 6:5 for most of their $25 and $50 tables as well if I recall correctly. I visited a few times and never went back. Looks like the new Toronto Casino 'wing' is more of the same.

Brantford (owned by the same company) still has 3:2 $25 tables but is small, usually only 4-8 blackjack tables going even on busier nights (weekend) so I stopped going there months ago.

Wait, 25 and 50 black jack is considered small stakes?
Should I even ask if there are any 5 or 10 dollar tables or it's not worth the casino's time and effort.

Vegas has been like this for years. And steadily expanded to where the Strip its most tables now. Same with adding 00 and even 000 to roulette tables. And comps becoming non existing for low tier players.

The casinos have pretty much admitted they are planning to chase the lower tier visitors off the strip outright. They want to become a destination city by adding the sports teams, Grand Prix, the new concert venue and more.

Because $5, $10 and $15 tables are so rare and always full I have adjusted to looking for $25 to $100 tables when I go.

During the week if you go to Brantford or other smaller city casinos you will still get 1-2 $15 tables if I recall. For some reason I believe the same with Woodbine during the week. Haven't been to Rama in years.

Niagara Falls is $25 and up and on weekends goes up to $50 and up pretty fast. The VIP room there is now $200 and always slow/dead, at least the few times I went in the winter. Years ago I would work up to the VIP room at Fallsview if I did well on the lower limit tables on the main floor first.

Only places I have seen $5-15 tables on weekends is the older casinos in Vegas and funny enough Detroit if you want to go for the drive - but during the day, not in the evenings.

I believe the 'video' blackjack at Casinos may be lower limits but can't be sure as I never play them as they are against the computer code (not a live dealer) and figure the odds are no better then playing against computer dealers online at home.

Hope that helps.
