reasonable . . . Mayflower Hotel.......anybody know it?
Try doing a search for mid-town hotels.

http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dl...quare Broadway) (New York)&&zz=1172357059203&

Broadway is actually the longest street in New York running the entire length of Manhattan Island from the Battery up past Lincoln Center, Columbia University and Fort Tryon Park all the way to the Harlem River.

I presume that what you mean by "Broadway" is either the theatre district near Times Square or Macy's on 34th and Broadway. If you're talking about (vanilla) women's clothing unless you’re a wholesale clothing buyer (garment district), you’re typically speaking of 5th Avenue roughly between Central Park South and 31st Street.

Although when speaking of hotels, reasonable and New York are somewhat oxymoronic terms, that said, the Mayflower is on lower Central Park West in the neighborhood of Lincoln Center. It's an older hotel but has been renovated within the past few years. I've never stayed there, but understand that for the price difference its worth it to get a room that overlooks Central Park.

Last year I stayed at the Beacon Hotel, on Broadway at 75th, which is West of the South end of Central Park. It was $225 per night for a suite, and it was decent, not run-down or low-rent. It was much cheaper than comparable places that I considered.

Good luck finding anything under $300US! New York has lost many hotls to condos and there is a real shortage.
Depends on season & hotel star rating.

Older no-frill 3 stars chain hotels can be had for $110-$150 USD + taxes around K-town. Just off Broadway, short walk to theatre district & Empire state building
http://www.answers.com/topic/koreatown-manhattan

when I need I room, I use www.hotels.ca

Not to be missed, Macy's, Tiffany's, & Bloomingdales. Sample some of the lesser known fashion names with boutiques in SoHO & Village. Rockefeller center is worth a visit.

If you're into outlet shopping & transportation, Jersey with much better bargain.

Taping of TV talkshows but apply for tickets in advance.

For shorter line-up of discount theatre tickets, try TKS booth by Seaport.

Enjoy the big Apple.

At the street level of Empire State Building; there is a clothing/fashion store called Strawberry.....awesome prices.

Don't forget to go to Canal St (China town) for the knock off purses and jewelry....it is a must!

For up to half price broadway tickets; go to the huge ticket booth in Times Square.

Call for the LOWEST hotel rates 24 hrs/day

I like the Marriott Marquis - it is in the heart of Times Square. If you want fancy - Four Seasons off of Park Ave - One of my favorites but pricey though. Go to Carnegie or Stage Deli and see if you can eat a whole sandwich and try some cheese cake - best in the world! If you want great sushi - Nobo is a great choice but VERY expensive. You folks in Canada have great Sushi so you may dismiss this idea - but make sure to bring lots of $$$ for all of the other things NYC has to ofer! By the way, you can fly cheaper out of Buffalo on JetBlue through Kennedy than from Canada. Have fun!

Absolutely true and a very good point to have raised.

If you do fly into Kennedy or Newark airports, presuming you don't have a ton of luggage take the airtrain to the train station and then take the commuter rail into Manhattan. If you do have too much luggage to cope with that and you fly into JFK take the New York Airport Express Service Bus into Manhattan. Taking a taxi you might as well give them your first born child.

But if you're flying into LaGuardia, it's about $25 by cab into midTown.

I find Marriott Marquis too busy. Restroom stop for Broadway tourists.

Will give Nobo a try in future visit. Thanks for the tip. I hear Todai NYC with good reviews, not as much selection as Calif version but great for the NY scene.

Jetblue is great tip.

For gents, have some small bills for tipping.

I agree that the Marriott Marquis is VERY busy at times - I think they have in excess of 2000 rooms if I am not mistaken - but you can't beat the location if you want to be in the hub of Times Square. For a more relaxed upscale stay, I like the Four Seasons. Another tip - I have found the casino's give the best exchange, so if you are heading towards the Buffalo airport, stop at the casino and exchange your money. I usually end up earning more or less on the exchange depending on how I do at the casino on the way out!:D

Marriott in Time Square is extremely busy with tourists. Hilton on 7th and 53rd is OK for $ (around $150) but rooms are small and hotel is pretty busy. Sheraton on 7th and 52nd is better and very close to broadway and walking distance to Central Park, 5th ave shopping, Rockefeller square, and subway.

Aighhh! No, no, no! Do not stay at the infamous Hotel Pentagram. While once a famous hotel (the old swing song 'Pennsylvania 6-5000' was named after its phone number), it's now a quasi flop hotel.

I stayed there once during Westminster, and have never been more appalled by a hotel.

Black mold growing up the bathroom tiles, cockroaches in the hallways, rat poison traps near the elevators, homeless bums sleeping in the stairwell - it was unbelievably disgusting.

Adding insult to injury, we became trapped in the elevator between floors with about fifteen handlers and their dogs. Repeated pressing of the emergency buzzer resulting in a bored sounding guy coming over the loudspeaker and asking us to 'stop pushing the button'. We replied 'Get us out of the f*cking elevator and we'll stop pushing the f*cking button!'. Took almost 20 minutes..and no apology for it from management.

Yeah, fun times.

When did you last stay there. I was there last May and my room was newly renovated. It was not large, but it was clean and adequate. I hesitated staying there because of some of the reviews but the price was so low compared to others I decided what the hell. Many of the reviews mentioned the in-between renovation problems. I had no complaints and I would stay again

Westin on 8th is nice, if you're willing to walk a few blocks the Hilton (52nd I think) is large so it can be inexpensive....

NY is a crap shoot, their almost as good as Vegas in pricing for capacity.

Have fun NYC is a great city.

try priceline.com

I got a 55 dollar room at the 3 star Hilton in Newark across the river.

You may want to try 80 dollars with priceline "name your price" 3 star for Manhattan. US dollars.

Good Luck

Also, my favorite museum would be Guggenheim.

For clubbing try Marquee, Cielo

Location is important if on biz trip.

For leisure, the extra 15 mins is opp to walk the sites & mingle with locals. Money saved for other trips. Like big apple, GT rarely sleeps.

Haven't checkout BUF casino yet, thanks for the tip. No need for exchange as I have USD account & friends/relatives happy to get some CDN$.
