That's separate from the $650 million parking and secret lease.
DoFo is denying it but there are documents.

All the more reason the public should know all the details.
Have plans been finalized? Do you have those documents?
Neither do I.
Which is why I said I was reserving judgement.

The NDP referenced an old plan from 2021 and are using that to drum up paranoia.

As of Aug 2023, this is some info I found about it and it actually proposes to create more green space (if you have something more recent share it)

That's the point, skoob.
Like with the 407, the deal is secret except DoFo already passed legislation to cover his ass in case he gets sued for fraud over the deal.

You have pivoted from a parking lot allegation in your earlier post to something now about fearing secret deals.
I already explained the false claim by the opposition about the parking let.

I think the more people that are involved in reviews, the more likely nothing will get done. The opposition looks to stall progress at every turn so they can then say the government has made no progress.
Everyone seemed fine when Chow/Ford made a deal to let the province control the future of Ontario Place. That's what they're doing.

Since they're not building a casino there, the only thing I appreciate about the plan is the concert venue. Aside from that I could care less at this point.
Maybe Chow can rent some land there for police horse stables and trampling training?

Its not a false claim, DoFo will spend $650 million on a parking lot for a foreign company's spa on park land at Ontario Place.
Why do you defend this?

Why are you stuck on this parking lot concept that was already dismissed after the NDP referenced an old plan?

On Thursday, Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma clarified that the plans from 2020 have no bearing on the final design for Ontario Place.

“There is no phase 2. There is no paving of the Brigantine Cove,” Surma said in the legislature when questioned by the NDP.

“What we decided to do was instead to expand the public realm space to 50 acres. We’re building a brand-new stage, wellness facility, park and, as well, a new science centre, marina and food and beverage [locations] on the site. That is what we showed to the public in April; that is what we are constructing today.”

The $650 million parking lot is part of the announced phase 1 plan, skoob.
Its not part of the new, secret plan to pave over more of Ontario Place that DoFo is claiming doesn't exist.

The $650 million is not just for a parking garage/lot, it's for other infrastructure upgrades as well.
From what I have been reading, if they don't provide a minimum number of parking spaces for a complex of that size, then can be fined. They'll need parking especially if the Science Centre moves there.

“As part of the lease, the Province commits to providing a number of dedicated parking spaces to Therme located within 650 metres of its entrance,” the report noted. ” If the Province does not meet its obligations to Therme, as per the contract, it faces a financial penalty.”

Yup, its a really stupid contract to say that. The reason why its so expensive is they'll have to build a parking lot below the water table.
That's the primary expense.

You still think DoFo is right on this one?

As it stands, I agree with the revitalization and what it takes to make it viable. Parking is a necessity and putting it underground frees up land that would have been required on the surface.
Personally, I would trade the spa for a casino and more restaurants/bars.
Maybe the spa is a precursor to a casino which I know DoFO has always been keen on. It's a lot easier to do that later once the area has been developed.
So in many aspects he's right. Until more is known about the lease details it's only partial info and I would rather not speculate.

2.1 million people visit that park as it is now.
Its actually really nice.

A spa will end its popularity with the public and turn it into more buildings on the waterfront.
Building a waterproof, under the water table parking lot is incredibly stupid.

See, the above quoted squatted out loaf of caca is just another nugget of merde shat by you out onto your mountainous pile of uninformed, made-up bullshit.

The land over the sunken 2000 car parking garage will be paved over to provide more than 600 additional parking spaces on top of the 2000 planned spaces to be submerged in lake water saturated land.

You have old information to compliment your old way of thinking...you seem triggered by the notion of parking spaces. Believe it or not, vehicles visiting OP will need to park somewhere. Not everyone uses a skateboard like you do.

It can be much better.
According to a 2010 G&M article, attendance declined from decades past. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/new...ingwoodtoday.ca: outbound&utm_medium=referral
Used to be 3 million/year...not any longer.

I haven't looked for details but my assumption is that a significant portion of current visitors are for concerts. That won't change. In fact, it will increase with the new all-year-round concert venue planned.
The plans look very nice: https://www.ontario.ca/page/recommended-design-concepts-ontario-place

I'm not a structural engineer so I can't really comment on the structural integrity of an underground parking garage. I suspect that many downtown buildings especially near the waterfront have a similar construction in that several parking levels are under the water table.

Not really.
407 was sold off to pay off debt.
Ontario Place is a white elephant and requires investment so it becomes successful.
Different scenarios.

You can choose to use the 407 or not.
You can choose to visit Ontario Place or not.

Why r u so dense and/or willfully obfuscating?

A 2000 car parking garage with an additional paved surface parking lot accommodating an additional 600 vehicles are "written into the contractually binding contract".

The land will be paved over.

The underground parking fish tank will not free up additional green and happy space as you claim.
