Can you guys stop quoting nottyboi posts? I have him on ignore and I keep seeing his dumb posts when you Reply with Quote.

It really detracts from some otherwise interesting threads.

A similar situation to where I frequently sail. However both there and Georgian Bay have a heck of a lot less people on the water than the Kingston - Thousand Islands area or the Bay of Quinte, further, people in your area (and where I frequently am) typically start on the water young and have a good bit more experience than many Lake Ontario weekend sailors, and with that a lot of very healthy respect for the water and the knowedge that failure to act prudently may well result in never coming back period.
Most boaters around my area are quite experienced. The new visitors tend to be in canoes, going camping.

I didn't say I do no boating.. I only get out a few times each summer. Yes I know they need to be out for rescue purposes.. I did not say there were to be no cops.. but a single Helo can cover a massive radius more cheaply and effectively then a dozen cops on 6 boats...Nice of you to drop by just to attack people with nothing to really add to the argument ...typical.
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Fuji, danmand and Rockslinger for me, as well as nottyboi. Fortunately they tend to just stroke each other in threads so I can often avoid them all at once.

Nottyboi complaing about police doing their jobs by ticketing people for breaking the law is not a new concept.

There is no such thing per se: as "marine police" just as there is no such thing as snowmobile police nor atv police. There are however OPP officers who are trained to operate these various vehicles,, so for example, on a fishing derby weekend, the Quinte area needs to continue to be policed in all its various forms; highway, traffic, towns, townships, etc so when special events such as the derby arise, it costs a shit load of extra tax payer dollars to pay additional officers overtime to do the additional policing, much like any other special event requiring policing such as ice fishing derby requires additional snowmobile cops, atv events requires additional overtime for atv cops..yes...the tax payers do pay exrtra and the cops get to bob around on the lakes all weekend, picking up irresponsible yahoos boozing it up

I thought for special events they have to pay for those extra officers.... Thought that was the big kerfluffle here in the Hammer a few summers back because the city wanted the Hess Village bars to pay for the extra officers before they would allow them the permits they wanted and while some of the bars were willing to pay their share others weren't.

But for regular patrols - and they do have those on the water as well as on land - I think what the original article is saying is that the regular police will be concentrating their patrols in the areas most frequented by the fishermen/women at the start of the season. At least I didn't see anywhere where it said they were adding officers to the patrol, just relocating them.

I felt bad about this so I thought I'd add something to your considered suggestions....

Apparently Nuttyboi has paid TERB a visit, posted in other threads, but not here. I guess he's got nothing useful to add to his position. You've possibly hurt his feelings, Rubbie.

Georgian Bay seems to me to be rather "big water" to be canoeing on, perhaps that was your point.
Cough, whoosie!

Done it many time, although big water is not my favorite, the good news is that here's lot of places to hide in. Superior is a different kettle of fish, but the water is the only way to view the Agawa petroglyphs from. Repelling gets you to close to them
