PAYGO plans aren't generally meant for the type of customer who wants to run apps. You might be able to do it, but you'll get raped on the data charges. So am I able to log on and use most apps with these PAYG plans?
You can use most apps. No data means no mail, but you can still use web mail in safari. No Netflix but YouTube works. It's a bit random but for $10 a month what do you expect. So am I able to log on and use most apps with these PAYG plans?
I agree. I was using Telus but now they raised the price so if it may be better to go for another company.Bad, bad experiences with Telus, I have had. I also find that they have very high rates. 50 cents per minute compared to 30 or even 20 with Fido, on a solely pay as you go basis. Texting is also high, 35 cents versus 25 for Fido. I also find that Fido transactions and activity reports are clearer than with Telus. Why is it when some one calls you and your voicemail picks up it registers as an outgoing call from your phone? This even before I had voicemail set up with Telus. Luckily, they didn't charge me for it, although the morons who I asked why when I was overseas I was getting outgoing calls when my SIM was not even in a phone; it was locked up at home.
Anyway, these were my experiences with Telus. Personally, on a strictly pay as you go, no monthly plan, I prefer Fido. Oh, and the Rogers/Fido/7-11 etc. network will also let you use an older 2G unlocked handset if you want to go cheap. Can't do that with Telus/Bell.
BTW, Bell wanted to charge me $35 for a SIM card; prepay for set-up/administration on their network. Fido only wanted me to buy a SIM card for $10, no set-up charge/administration charge, and $10 additional for initial air time credit. Fuck Bell.
These are add-ons to a base service. What is the per minute rate that you pay as a starting point?Telus Pay and Talk
$5 dollars a month (250 txt msgs)
$10 dollars a month (2500 txt msgs)
I keep extra money on in case I need to call but I do most of my booking through text.
Can someone educate me here.
lets say I pick up an older hobby iPhone 4.... Rogers, Telus or Bell....whatever...even cracked.
...
is it better if phone is 'cracked' for more options?
$2 x 30 = $60Holy crap. I pay $2 a day for my AT&T phone down in the states. Unlimited nationwide calling and texts. Canada sucks.
Can someone educate me here.
lets say I pick up an older hobby iPhone 4.... Rogers, Telus or Bell....whatever...even cracked.
And lets say I want 'pay as you go'...do I just go to a Bell kiosk for instance and set it up. Is it hard? Can it be anonymous?
Sorry always been on plans and Need advice! What is typical ( reasonable) cost?
is it better if phone is 'cracked' for more options?
Thanks
It's not cracked. It's called the iPhone Spider-Man Edition(TM). It's a limited edition that is custom made, so it costs more.
With 7-11 you just activate the sim online. No personal info. You'll need the imei number of the phone. Uses rogers cell network. So a locked rogers phone will even work. Or just use the cheap phone they sell. I believe they sell the smaller sim cards too now. A balance of $25 is good for a year but remember they deduct a small fee for 911 every month. They have a browsing plan which means being able to surf webpages and web based emails. Won't be able to downloads apps or watch netflix but don't think that was your intention. Pay cash for top ups. They are good for up to a year if you don't top up right away.so do they need personal info to open one of these phones? I do not wish to have shit coming to my home regarding this.
You don't use Rogers. You use SpeakOut but Speakout rents service from Rogers. You deal with SpeakOut. In 6 years, three phones, and two cities, I've never dealt with a person. It's all via the phone keypad.Thank you.
A couple questions. Lets say it an iPhone locked to Rogers....or unlocked....would I still use Rogers.
At 7-11 If I get a SIM card, they assign me a phone number...CORRECT?
You say I need to go online to activate....is there some sort of trace? Or is this a one off?
And the top up..where do I do that?
pwhat if the card runs out....how to I maintain the same phone number? New card? Online?
Sorry..I'm pretty slow in this area...and maybe I'm over thinking it.
