does anybody else think that technology is playing too big of a role in swimming.these new suits even help keep their hips aligned.go back to speedos and see how many records fall.

Shoes get better, bikes get better.... I think the deeper pool has more to do with it than the suits.... but at the end of the day they're all wearing the same suits and swimming in the same pool....

I keep hearing the Canadian commentators saying how well we are doing by setting national records. So what. We aren't gaining on the rest of the world, we just have the same "technological" improvements.

Same steroids....

What really impressed me about Phelps is his ability to get a half body length lead just from the start.

Unbelievable accomplishement. I saw Spitz achieve his amazing 7 golds, but this is even more jaw dropping.

So many races, so many chances for medals. Should other disciplines follow suit?

When even the third place finisher smashes the previous record you have to laugh. :)

Apparently he burns 4,000 cals in a single workout and his heart pumps twice the blood as an average male heart.....

12 on his way to 13 tonight....

After seeing the finish in that 200m butterfly I'm convinced there is some sort of divine intervention. How in the world did he win that race at the end, look at the frame by frame, you can't even tell!!!! He was about to lose it and then next frame shows both swimmers touching the mark at the same time. That was out of this world, what a story for the ages.

From the pic, it looks like Phelps right hand is pretty bent from the wall while the other guy's just touching with finger tips. To me that makes it pretty clear that Phelps touched first.
