I like Queen, so I liked tonight's show. Usually I am one of the first on here after a show, but I see already two pages of banter, so I feel a little late to the action.
Bucky - I thought he was a'ight with 'Fat Bottomed Girls', although I was a little surprised he chose it, or that anyone chose it actually. But he didn't say "Get on your bikes and ride" at the end, which bummed me out a little.
Ace - The guy should have done 'We Are the Champions' or 'You're My Best Friend'. I thought he started out okay, but he just can't rock, which became painfully apparent as the song went on. I don't see how he's not gone this week.
Kellie - Simon was right, she looked a little creepy there at the beginning. Kind of a weird cross between Lita Ford and Daryl Hannah from Bladerunner. A brave choice, but the sweet ol' country girl worked it out. I knew Paula, that dingbat, would bring up the fact that Constantine attempted this song last year. Kellie's version was far superior.
Chris - I'm a Queen fan, but I did not know 'Innuendo'. I thought he sang it fine, although I was a little disappointed he didn't choose a better known song.
Katharine - For what it was, which was an overblown Broadway stylized performance, I thought Katharine sang 'Who Wants to Live Forever' pretty well. However, I would have liked to have seen her try something a little uptempo for once. I think she is getting too narrow in her style. In the little warm-up vignette before her performance, they showed her shaking her moneymaker during rehearsals. We need to see more of that.
Elliott - 'Somebody to Love' is a tough song to sing, and I thought he did a nice job with it. He's still boring though.
Taylor - If I recall, Will Makar sang 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' the night he got voted out in the preliminaries. Taylor did a much better job with it, needless to say. I was glad to see the energy back, but it's amazing how annoying it gets after a short time.
Paris - You know, I didn't buy her as sultry when she sang 'Fever' during '50's week, and I didn't buy her as bootylicious when she sang 'Check It Out' during 00's week. But for some reason, I totally bought her as a tough rock grrrl this week. I liked the Tina Turner hair too.
It seems most everyone is against Ace, so who am I to disagree?
