It's just a 'claim'. No gangs were taking him seriously, he's been trying to get recruited for a while now. I suspect this was an attempt to get taken seriously.
What gets me is that people are actually sheltering this person.

He did a livestream interview while on the run. Kid has no functioning brain. It was a car jacking gone wrong.
He's 14 so he'll probably do 2 years in juvie. SMH, the laws need to change.

After following the fall out from this situation over the last 24 hours it has now become abundantly clear to me that the entire reason he did this was for the notoriety and he is reveling in the attention. He is also well aware of his age and the fact that he is looking at a slap on the wrist. At the end of the day this guy killed that woman for internet clout. This is literal madness as far as I'm concerned and by the looks of things he is a low priority to police. At least they raided a house looking for the white kid from Hamilton. This kid is riding public transit, doing interviews and enjoying the lime light. Oh Canada

He should be arrested, sentenced and rehabilitation should be attempted during the time he serves.
He is most likely involved in gang activities and I wouldn't be surprised if this killing was some sort of gang initiation thing.

They released his name, which is rare for young offenders, but in your mind, it's low on the police's list of priorities.
