Let's see. He was arrested Friday, charged with 2nd degree murder, appears in court tomorrow. We might not know what happens, because he’s a youth and it is no longer legal to say his name after his arrest according to TPS. He’s looking at 7 yrs for 2nd degree under the YOA. I'll keep you posted on Bail.

his identity is protected by the Youth Offenders Act...a law that imo has seen better days and should be changed...so i dont think his mother is about to go in front of the TV cameras..

I was out with a few friends on Friday when we heard about this.

Our group is mixed ethnicities, no one is white.

I joked "I bet it's the new rich immigrants from India and they can bail the kid out."

Indian friend "god damn they giving us a bad name."

Asian friend, "guys....it's worse, it's the stereotype."

Guyanese friend "well, at least there's probably no bail, our stereotype exists for a reason."

Yeah some of these kids have such troubled childhoods they become violent, which is why I believe some rehabilitation should be attempted.
I could be wrong of course but I think he is too young to be cast aside as a psychopath for life.
Reminds me of this case in the UK, which I believe is much, much worse than what happened here, and they still attempted rehabilitation.
In this case they failed with one suspect, but the other has had no incidents after his time served.

Me too… his self-righteous and pompous attitude might be entertaining to his audience… and I’m hoping it was one or several of them that turned him in.
Saying “I didn’t mean to kill her” doesn’t make the crime any less. Murder is murder… it wasn’t an accident… he carried a weapon, he intentionally used that weapon… he should be tried as an adult and get the maximum penalty.

These kids do what they want because they know the system… it’s time the system works for our safety and not for the ones who exploit it.

Oh it’s not going to be any time soon!!! It’s been a point of contention since the inception of the YOA.

But back to this atrocious act of selfish and pathetic asshole… I hope when the day comes, he will burn in the hottest parts of Hell.

What would be a lot worse for the kid is if the court found him to be not criminally responsible, and instead of going to juvie jail for a couple of years, he was instead assigned to the forensic unit at a mental health hospital for an indefinite period. I'm sure that a steady diet of psychiatric drugs would have a more lasting effect on his attitude.

I read in a news article the maximum prison time they can give him is 8 years for 2nd degree murder because of his age.
