dog story: I once bought a dog at a pet shop on a Friday and returned it on a Monday. Didn't even care about the refund.

I grew up on a farm on the prairies. It was SOP to beat the hood of your truck before starting it to scare off the cats who climbed up on the warm engine block to sleep. The stupid ones didn't move and you would have to clean out the engine compartment at a car wash in town. Back then, cats wre pretty much disposable anyway. Coyotes would get em, or they would run under farm machinery. Its not that we went out of our way to hurt them, there were just so many of them around because of all the field mice seeking shelter in the barns for winter, they just got in the way at unfortunate times.Lisa of Toronto said:true story: many many years ago i run over my cat, it was sleeping somewheres inside the engine, i didn't know, turned on the car and drove off, didn't even hear any thump thump, but my roomies at the time who were washing their cars scraped it off the driveway, burried it and when i noticed sam missing they told me it probably run away lol
