Is there a way to get the higher channels I have a vcr that goes to 129 but the channels stop at 84 is there something I can buy without going to rogers that will access the higher channels and mybe even the movie networks???

I think anything above 84 or so is only accesable with a digital terminal.

You need the digital box. it's not like the old days when you had that old brown box and you can tap into the rogers channels.

I am additiced to the rogers PRVR - record, rewind live tv, and the fasforward only happens if your pausing the show for a long time its still recordning and you can fast forward the commercial.

the pvr really does mess up your regular tv shcedule sometimes since your watching it on your own time, and when you at someones place that has the regular box sometimes you wish you can rewind something you missed but you can't unless they have the pvr too.

But I have to ask if there is a way use a digital box that can give off no return signal so that rogers doesn't know you are using it. Or do they not really have a way of knowing???

They will always know, because it is the return signal that allows them to allow you access to the digital channels. At least that is what they have told me....

Yeah, it's just like cable modems. They need to have their serial number put into the computer at Rogers so you can receive the signal. (That's a gross simplification, but you get the idea.)

Actually you only need the Rogers digital box to decrypt the encoded digital channels. Any digital box will allow you to view the un-encrypted digital channels. Not the TMN or speciality channels, but there are a lot of un-encrypted digital channels.

Alternatively you could get a PC QAM tuner card and use your PC as a PVR.
