While I enjoyed Blade Runner 2049 I found the run time of the movie overly long as the story could have been told in 2hrs or less without losing anything. The length of film probably led to its box office disappointment as most reviews were extremely positive.

For me it was Justice League... it was really painful to watch and I found a lot of the jokes and dialogue just awkward and unfunny.
It's truly amazing how they have screwed up every movie. The superman ones. WW was ok but shit ending. JL was a mess from the get go. Horrible CGI as well.

Especially compared to the Marvel Movies.

Just watched Blade runner. Glad I didn't pay for it. Bright should have been a mini series.

Just saw Star Wars. Hopefully Abrams can bring it back.

As for the Indy films I plan to catch up now that we are in cocoon season.

Just saw star wars. You know it's a bad movie when you spend a bunch of time hoping the current scene is the last. I'm not surprised though as some recent PVR saves of episodes 1-6 required a ton of fast forwarding. The series has a great premise and some amazing ideas but the lame childish jokes and recycled story lines make you wonder.

GOTG2 was also a disappointment too. Jack Reacher 2 also.

Will Kodi Justice League because BvS was terrible. To me Ben Affleck is poison to most films. Why don't these studios just let Christopher Nolan do it all? His films are long but they never have a boring moment although Dunkirk was meh.

It's got to be Justice league. My hopes were so high, and then all the stuff about extensive reshoots, horrible buzz leading up the release, an embargo on reviews, and then it bombs magnificently.

Mistakes a plenty by Warner Brothers: no vision for the DC Cinematic Universe, casting Affleck, giving Snyder the keys to the kingdom.....etc.

Personally i enjoyed it. I wish they would had took there time properly introducing every characters in there own movie first and all, but in the context of what was possible i tough the movie was well done and very entertaining. I also think the DC universe is much less crowded than the Marvel one. For instance who brough the Avengers together in the first movie? The SHIELD. Having this agency working behind was very helpfull. Its a luxury Justice League didn't had so you had Batman roaming around recruting peoples. But no big flying Boat and such...

Marvel took more than 10 years to build there Universe while DC tried to rush everything. So it gives what it gives and in that style i tough it was very decent.

The most disappointing of the decade is Ben Hur, why did they even bother? The 1959 version is prime blockbuster done entirely with live action, they pulled a massive boner using cheesy CGI.

I'm going with Justice League as well. The politically correct mob would have you believe that Wonder Woman is a better film than Logan. To quote Bones, "in a pig's eye". Wonder Woman is a director's film, Patty Jenkins is a marvelous director who's been underused. They dissipated the goodwill with Provolone League. You have a real problem when three of your lead actors have marginal talent (see best films of 2017), the film had almost no energy. The only actor that came out with accolades is Ezra Miller as The Flash, he is an amazing talent who may become the next Daniel Day Lewis.

I was asked why Ezra Miller would marginalize his talent by being in a comic book film? For the same reason that Michelle Williams is in Venom, you can only do so many art house films. After Madame Bovary he needed a change of pace. He's also in Fanstastic Beasts, but I haven't seen it.

I get around.
I enjoyed Justice League more than Thor: Ragnarok, which was close to Austin Powers level of parody and goofiness.
But biggest disappointment was Bright which had an interesting premise and completely blew it.

Bright blew it, what a surprise. Look up I Robot for blowing chunks even bigger. If it wasn't for Tom Cruise, Will Smith would easily be the most selfish actor working. Bright was directed by David Ayer, who also directed Suicide Squad, the whole premise of the film is to make Smith look good - at Joel Edgerton's expense.

Speaking of "Mr" Cruise, I noticed that Jeremy Renner isn't in his latest vanity MI:666 film. After Wind River, which he'll get a Best Actor nom for, he doesn't have to kiss his ass any longer. And it also gets better for Joel Edgerton, in March a film comes out in which he collaborates with his superstar stunt man brother Nash. Nash Edgerton makes his directorial debut in a script they co-wrote:

The first time I saw Joel Edgerton, he made an unforgettable impression - Nash wasn't involved with Warrior. He was the stunt coordinator for MM: Fury Road.

Logan was a pretty crappy film, but I didn't expect much after the Wolverine. Agree that Bright was also disappointing even though the premise was interesting. I agree that Will Smith kills more films than he saves (Suicide Squad, Bad Boys 2, etc.). Bad Boys was amazing but the key is Smith was the co-star and Martin Lawrence was the funny one.

The funny thing is I'm trying very hard to find a film I actually enjoyed this year. The Arrival was somewhat interesting.

Murder on the Orient Express was completely underwhelming. I literally said afterwards, "That's it?" Now I hear they're contemplating a sequel. *sigh*

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was ho-hum. Time to put a nail in the storyline and instead focus on making Star Wars movies about the other characters.

you diidn't like Logan!? It's a matter of taste, I not a fan of the X-Men franchise they are all interchange films without any standing out. Logan was different, the title characters seemed fallible and very human, and they didn't overdo the R rating. I loved it.

I saw Wind River for the second time, the plot made a lot more sense. When I saw it in the theater, I was half in the bag. It was unwise to drive home, so a flick and popcorn is my ticket to sobering up. I noticed that it's Taylor Sheridan directorial debut. He's known primarily as a screen writer, with Sicario, Hell or High Water and some episodes of Sons of Anarchy to his credits. They also killed a number of Canadian actors in this film,Graham Green, Hugh Dillon (Headstones) and Matthew Del Negro (cousin of David Rocco) among them. Jon Bernthal is getting a big push from it.

A sequel is not happening, I knew it was going to passionately suck. You can't replace Albert Finney, Ingrid Bergman and Sean Connery!

Talk about a variety of tastes - I was the exact opposite. I didn't care for the first two Thor movies but really liked Ragnarok. I liked hated SvsB, loved Wonder Woman, didn't like Justice League.

I didn't like the treatment of Luke Skywalker in this last Star Wars movie although the movie on a whole was okay.

I was really looking forward to seeing that film but left feeling disappointed and frustrated. The loud, continual gun fire and explosions drowned out the dialogue- I understand this was done deliberately by the director to simulate the battlefield experience but I just found it annoying. I still liked the film but I was disappointed.
Keep in mind that you don't have to like film in order for it to be good film.

Likewise, just because you didn't enjoy the film doesn't mean it's a bad film.

There's nothing wrong in criticizing a film (or any creative work) but it's essential to separate your personal taste from someone else's work. Healthy objective discussion is part of the film enjoyment process. You're discussing the film that you saw not the film you would have made.

I've seen lots of bad films that I actually enjoyed but they were bad.

I've seen lots of very good film that bored me or I was emotionally detached from but were still well made, directed and written.

To each his own. I am a thriller/mystery/suspense/action type of guy. So Logan fits into the category of slow. But even the story itself was nothing great. Face it - these fools are trying to get blood from a stone by taking a great character, Logan/Wolverine, and trying to build as much as possible around it but I think it's been overdone. One of the greater pieces of Marvel and X-Men is the other characters and all the bad guys with various powers.

Keep in mind that you don't have to like film in order for it to be good film.

It's a fair point but I wouldn't say it like that. I would instead say that since each person has an opinion, what is good to some might be bad for others and vice versa. People have different things they appreciate. So judge for yourself or find like-minded people that enjoy what you enjoy and dislike what you dislike rather than going based on a crowd of votes.

I have some interesting discussions with some of my relatives because we have differing opinions on some films while similar views on others. I really enjoyed John Wick 1 while my cousin hated it. But we both enjoy most Nolan movies (except Dunkirk for me was meh). Now I can't say if Dunkirk was a good or bad film, especially since with Nolan it's generally considered genius. I can only really state that I personally didn't really enjoy it.

I'm in the mystery/film-noir group as well but I also have to connect to the characters. All prior X-Men films were same old same old to me, superior beings acting out power struggles. Logan broke the mold, Wolverine and Professor X became human. With lesser actors it would not have worked, Jackman and Stewart hooked me from the beginning. I love the movie, indifferent to the rest of the X-Men catalogue. I wasn't sold on Jackman as an actor, always considered him more of an entertainer. He was outstanding in Prisoners and won me over. Stephen Merchant killed as Caliban. Up till now he's been known as Ricky Gervais's co-writer and second banana. Nice to see him create his own legacy.
