Let’s play the game of how the US is to blame for every problem on the planet. Here’s my lame attempt:

1. US enters WWII
2. US Liberates France
3. US Protects France during cold war even though France leaves NATO
4. French democracy flourishes
5. Secular France bans religious symbols in school (head scarves, crosses….)
6. US offends Arab countries by allowing France to have a democracy where they can ban head scarves

Here's six more degrees:

1. Pro-Nazi Vichy gov't controls sizable portion of Asian South-West, including Vietnam.
2. America enters the Pacific war. China is defeated by Japan.
3. Ho Chih Mihn begins a guerrilla war against the French Occupational gov't in Vietnam.
4. Ho Chih Mihn, cut off from China, asks for and receives the assistance of the Americans during his struggle against the French.
5. Mihn wins. Communist rule is established.
6. Flash forward twenty years - America suddenly decides it has to deal with the problem they helped create. Thousands of soldiers and millions of civilians are killed.

Remind of any recent conflicts? Mihn, Osama, Hussein - funny how we all have to pay for one superpower's messes....

Yeah, the US entered WWI, in 1917, and most of the US soldies that died, died of the flu. Most did not see combat.

Flash forward to 1939. The US continues to do business with Hitler, US Steel makes a huge killing selling steel and rail cars to the Nazi's. Strangely, Bush is the US banker to Hitler. US continues to sell to both the UK and Germany, up to December 7. The US shows that the dollar is mightier than democracy.

Pinochet.

Banana Republic.

Need we go on?
Come on, I thought I'd challenge the US bashers to a bit of cleverness, give it a try. Six moves to ruining the world, give it a go.

Well, I put one in. Is there a prize at stake or what?

And don't say the prize is "credibility" cause that prize sucks.

The problem is that most of the American haters on the board skip the first 5 steps and go straight to "Bush sucks" or "America is the real evil empire". Why waste time with thought when you can regurgitate the same tired rant? :D

I'm trying to force some creativity and humor in the US hating.

Yeah, but yours sucked. Try again, you're smarter than that.

Muffie, your paranoia is exasperating at times. You seem incapable of distinguishing between constructive criticism of Bush and the American foreign policy with true "American haters". Can you not come up with better justification/arguments for your opinions/philosophies other than to try and dismiss valid arguments with the same never-ending, thoughtless accusations?

Oh, you want bullshit that plays into conservative fantasies. I see......Here goes:

1. In 1803 a French asshole, Napoleon, sells the Louisiana territories, thus leading to the creation of the Southern States. The Northern States never forgive him for saddling them with a bunch of dirt-eatin' cousin-marryin' inbred dumbass crackers. Thus begins the modern Franco-American conflict.

2. In 1886 the French issue another slap on the face to the US - they give New York the Statue of Liberty. I mean, she's a French girl, and she's wearing a dress that makes a nun's habit look sexy. Merde!

3. In WWII the US liberates France. The US is furious with France for making them invade and liberate a country that doesn't even have the courtesy to have any oil. Talk about ingratitude.

4. In 1962 Algeria becomes independant from France. The US is once again furious because all these stupid little A-rab countries - which they never even heard of before now - are having their stupid stinking little revolutions here and there and are generally really fucking things up. The US isn't sure how or why or what, but they do know the French are involved.

5. In 1996 former French Prime Minister Francois Mitterand dies. Both his wife and mistress attend his funeral. The citizens of the US are jealous and shocked - in that order.

6. 2003. The US and Micronesia invade Iraq. The rest of the world abstains. The US isn't sure how or why or what, but they do know the French are involved.

1. OTB attempts, through a lame application of six degrees of separation, to cast the various well-informed, objective critics of the Bush administration as un-thinking, knee-jerk reacting, bleeding heart liberal American haters.

2. Drunken Master responds with a reasoned, well-informed example of American foreign policy gone awry.

3. MuffinMuncher regurgitates the same old tired pro-Bush rant about how uninformed and dogmatic the so-called American haters are.

4. Various so-called “American haters”, i.e., bbking & Drunken Master, rise to OTB’s challenge providing “Six Degree” examples that display both their knowledge of history and international relations as well as their wit and sense of humour.

5. The thread goes quiet as all the pro-Bushites scratch their collective heads and try to figure out who the hell Micronesia is.

6. Ipso facto, Bush sucks.

This is better

I really like the butter fly effect of Iraq turning into WWIII with the French taken out (for the third time in a row). I think the glimmer of brilliance in this post was the role of the sub continent in world instability.

As for DM and H4P, get out of the pro vs anti US bashing, I'm trying to lighten up the discussion by baiting the anti US crowd. Have more a sense of humor.

DM, I just wanted you to follow the six-step metaphor, the Vietnam thread was a good idea poorly executed. The irony of making a problem that then kicks your ass is very interesting.

And come on, every Republican knows that Micronesia is where Microbreweries are.

OTB, as I suspect is the case with this entire thread, I should have clearly stated with my post "tongue firmly planted in cheek"...

As much as I enjoy the political threads I get a bit tiered of the personal attacks. Was trying to lighten it up a bit, glad you played along.
