Ok, tool boy... now that you've included me in this directly... here we go. (And yes big bold and beautiful)
More times then not, they happily extend from the hourly to multi hourly after an initial meeting. At least read what I said prior to making a remark full of innuendo.
I always welcome new clients. I NEVER have a new client request such a service and if it was, as I said- would set the wrong tone with me and contribute to both of us being dissapointed.
I feel it IS a waste of my time to attract clients in this manner especially when my marketing is better suited elsewhere and is successful. This is a CHOICE I make. I charge for my time and easily attain clients who respect the parameter in the sense that regardless of WHAT their reasons are for booking, they happily donate my hourly to ensure a wonderful experience.
Since I am a professional, I arrive wearing appropriate evening wear amongst leather chaps and biker jackets. In regards to your "meet and greet" your mentality is ALSO the reason why I don't partake.
Although many take advantage of this type of gathering and find it useful, I choose not to put myself on display. Clients respect my discreetness when booking- knowing the only people who "know" are those who have seen me previously.
I don't need to meet clients this way and if I were to attend another party, it would be to socialize- FREELY with friends and clients of the industry rather then to hand out business cards, advertising myself.
I would go to have fun, NOT to work, even if that 'work' is just considered marketing. I don't need to "sell" myself... I feel it sells itself.
That is why I love going to Kiarra's parties... they are relaxed, with people who are like minded- not out for a sneak and peak.
However, I do know many other agencies who take care of their clients if they happen to be displeased with the SP when they meet.
Of course if a client showed up and within two minutes of meeting me, decided I was not for them, they would be encouraged to leave; with their pockets intact.
Or as an Outcall, I would gladly get in my car- AFTER accepting a cancellation fee and drive away with no hard feelings.
I believe the way I market myself and the time I invest with all clients, new and repeat PREVIOUS to any arranged date-has been the reason I've never been turned away at the door.
A perfect slogan, is PREVENT it before it occurs.
I don't offer a meet and greet regardless, so REPEAT or not... as I said (quote below)tboy said:And francesca: that may be fine and good for repeat customers because then the topic never arises whether they click with you or not, well, if they are brain dead and don't click with you and keep coming back that's their problem.
To me, I would rather spend my time with someone who KNOWS and is certain he wants to see me, then convince someone who isn't. Hard sells are just that and honestly not worth my time because the experience will be equally disappointing for both of us.
I don't have to "meet and greet" to get new clients, especially not on my time without being compensated for it OR reducing my rates, as suggested above. I didn't say this because I was soooooo BUSY (which I am) BUT did say I don't make myself available to this, or feel its necessary because I have a track record of providing excellent service and can say of those who DO take a risk of what you call "wasting" their money.... they ALWAYS come back.tboy said:I'm talking about meeting potential new clients etc and if you're so busy you don't want new ones, then more power to you.

I also don't par take in the TERB parties after chauffeuring Jillian to a Christmas party when new in the industry, where I was made to feel no more then a common place streetwalker in a setting I felt was unclassy.tboy said:For the record I would have partaken of many more sp's had I been able to meet and greet (like at a terb party) but didn't because unlike sp's, I don't make $250.00 an hour and to gamble my hard earned money on a possible, sorry, that's not for me. Call me low class, call me whatever you want but that's the facts jake (or is it jill?)

Your definitely in great company, especially if that reputable agency is Cupids.tboy said:To be blunt: I've tossed away enough cash on crappy sp's to no longer be a sucker and go into it blind and if I do book an unreviewed sp it will be from a reputable agency that I know will take care of me should I be displeased with the sp when we meet.
However, I do know many other agencies who take care of their clients if they happen to be displeased with the SP when they meet.
tboy said:Let me ask you indies a question: do YOU give the money back if the client declines your services after meeting you face to face? (or would you if it has never happened before).
