I didnt know him personally and these are just my impresssions.
On all news broadcasts very lttle is mentioned about his family or if he was a " family man". Maybe he was just private maybe he was cold and ruthless.
again .. my thoughts.
I wouldnt be suprised if many people are saying this guy is getting all this credit when there were thousands of people responsible for the product development.
Credit to should go to all .. blame to one. The leader.
He came across as a very cold , angry person. Again my thoughts.
So unless you were a freind or relataive stop acting like you knew him so well etc.
But I will say I made some coin on the stock earlier!
He has a wife and 4 kids. Does that count?

He was put up for adoption when he was a baby because his Syrian father impregnated an American girl back in the 50's in middle american. Her family went nuts and demanded that the half breed kid be put up for adoption. Ironically, his biological parents went on and ended up getting married, but they never sought him out. They had a daughter who is a famous author - Mona Simpson. She and Jobs ended up being very close. Supposedly Steve Jobs was very affected by the fact that his biological parents had rejected him. (I wouldn't know, but I imagine knowing you are adopted carries with it a certain sting of rejection that one never quite gets over)

You actually read that shit and give that group any credibility? Or are you a member of the Phelps family, lol. I hope you`re kidding, that group protests any funeral of any significance so they can communicate their anti-gay stance, they`re protesting the dead person, just using the venue to get their message accross, the word opportunist comes to mind. Here`s a brief on them:

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) is an independent Baptist church known for its extreme stance against homosexuality[SUP][1][/SUP] and its protest activities, which include picketing funerals and desecrating the American flag.[SUP][2][/SUP] The church is widely described as a hate group[SUP][3][/SUP] and is monitored as such by the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center

If you look at my previous post history, you`ll see that I think all religions are a sham and a lot of them are also nutty, like this group.

All great innovators steal. Their genius is in knowing what to steal, and how to make it work. Not everybody with a good idea knows how to turn it into a product. Steve Jobs did.

How many times did various companies try and introduce tablet PC?

How many times did they succeed?
I couldn't agree with you more. He basically repackaged everything in a pretty white box and and called it an Apple. Innovator mmmmm.... I think I would use another word.

PC - Mac's version of the PC
Laptop - MacBook
MP3 - Player - Ipod and later Ipod touch (combining a tablet PC into an MP3 player)
Cel phone - Basically an Ipod Touch with a phone.
Tablet PC (Which have been a around for quite some time now) - Ipad (doesn't replace your home computer)

And what's the deal with all the locked features on it's products?!? Basically they get you to buy something, and then they want you to pay more to unlock it's features. It's just another money grab. Apple's way of showing it's appreciation for all it's customers. Thank you Apple

Oh, and if there's a bug with one of there products, they'll blame the costumer for screwing it up. It's never Apple's fault. It's already happened a couple times that I can recall.

Anyways.... Time to go vote.... I hate the choices we have but what are you gonna do?

Before Apple, Jobs made money by selling 'Blue Boxes' - devices that let people steal free long distance services from the phone companies. He was tossed from Apple when engineers started quitting over his arrogance and general management style - or lack of it. His foresight in purchasing Pixar from Lucas before the run away success gave him an opportunity to come back. After documented tirades against the big monopoly MicroSoft, Jobs set out to lockout any connectivity he could from Apple products and the outside world. He referred to people jailbreaking their iPhones to put on third party software as 'criminals & terrorists'. As Bill Gates has been involved in projects to give away billions of his wealth - Jobs has held tightly to his $6 billion.

As I owned mp3 players before Apple introduced theirs and RIM & Palm blazed the way for smart phones - I would say Jobs strengths were stronger in Marketing than innovation. This is born out by the fact that most people didn't even know that there were similar products out before Jobs put Apple's version out. The marketing finesse he had was proven out by the iTunes concept - an Amazon model applied to music instead of books.

With due respect to the Apple worshippers - I think comparing him to Einstein is a little bit of a stretch.

Steve Jobs now belong to the ages. He is in the company of Leonardo, Bell, Edison, Marconi, Tesla, Watson, Ford, Eastman, Land, etc.

(Were they all perfect human beings? Probably not. Were they brilliant minds? Absolutely yes.)
add Barnum and Bailey, Victor Kiam and Ginger from the Spice Girls

R.I.P. Steven Jobs, the techno maverick. Cancer's the real bitch here. Steve was still working and died too young. Despite his wealth and fame, he probably didn't live his life as fully as he wanted too. Apple wasn't always the success that we know today. Hopefully, he lived his life as fully as he could once he knew he got cancer.

(Even Bill Gates has been described as a shrewd business operator if not worse).

It's sad because a) people who never met him connect with him because of his products b) it's tragic that cancer has put out another bright light c) it reminds about this terrible disease, and how it can affect anyone, no matter how rich or famous or otherwise healthy you can be.

He was a businessman, not an inventor. To be competitive, one must borrow ideas to compete with products already on the market, and try to 'innovate' by putting one's own spin on it - adding features to the product that the competitor may not have, make it more user-friendly, and so on.

Obviously, his team is owed a lot of credit for the creation of the end product too. The important thing to note is that one need not re-invent the wheel to be an innovator.
