Phil C,

You live in a world where you kype coins from pay washer dryers to pay lower range SPs that live in the buildings where you concierge. In reality stoppage of a work site and several hours of first responders time and equipment can cost $100k or more
You trying to burn me, and flailing so badly at it is a sight to behold

Why are they not releasing her name? They actually blurred out her face on City Pulse. Quite strange.

I don't know why she did it but she is amazing to be able to do what she did. No gloves, 2 inch heels and a light jacket. Marisa, if you are on Terb, how much for an hour ??? :)

there is NO way in the world that she shinnied down that cable and didn't get grease on her hands or clothes.......there is more to this story than what we are being told, guaranteed a crane operator was an accomplise

I was wondering about that. I heard a crane operator say that those cables are covered with great and that they have small metal slivers all over the cable. It sounded like there was no way she would have slid down the cable without causing injury to her hand and getting covered in grease. How in hell did she get down onto the block?

I am speculating that she had an accomplice, the two climbed to the top of the crane and she was lowered down half way before he/she took off.

When adding up the cost of an incident like this I don't think the cost of the first responders should be included. They are being paid when they are on duty, whether they are at the station or on a call.

According to the SUN, in an interview with the firefighter who brought her down:

“It’s about a three-quarter inch greasy cable, so she was all covered in grease,” he said. “She must have bearhugged it and down she went. But it’s a long drop.”

I think in this situation, they do ask the person involved if they want to be out to the media or not. She is probably insanely embarrassed and has asked to not be identified.

I was thinking the same thing. The cable would be covered with a special type of grease and there would be many little barbs of steel wire that would rip her hands to shreds.

I could see being able to climb up the boom of the crane, but not the sliding down the cable part. And then, what the hell was she thinking with respect to getting back up? Anyone would have to know that that would be IMPOSSIBLE with greasy cable.

Anyway, koodoos to the fire fighter who rescued her. He is one brave cool cucumber. She owes him her life.

Even if she wrapped her hands in the denim of the jacket, you'd think that it (the denim) would have snagged on all the little barbs of the cable.

I really want to hear the details on this one.

I've seen videos of mountain climbers stranded on a ledge. It's a horrible predicament. You can't go up and you can't go down and cellphone doesn't work.

When I was much younger I did a bit of mountain climbing and the golden rule was to stay as far apart as possible so if one falls into a crevice or over the side, the others won't.

P.S. There was a recent story from out West that 3 (or 4 or something like that) all fell into a crevice and died. They, obviously, were climbing too close together so when one fell they all fell and died.

The Star, the Sun and CBC have all released her name. So I presume other newspapers have as well.
