Vlad a non factor again in a big game. We're reduced to making a big deal out of a single that normally would have been an out as the 2nd baseman was shifting.

Imagine winning the division and not interviewing your star player after because nobody cares what he has to say. He'd be the 4th or 5th guy I'd want up in a clutch situation.
I agree. And the announcers will keep making excuses for him and when he flies out talk about how good the swing was. Getting Bo back will help Vlad, with Bo behind him they have to pitch to Vlad so as to not walk him.

Vlad is a solid player but too sporadic and not clutch enough to be called a superstar so Schneider needs to stop treating him like a superstar and put him down in the lineup where he will get less at bats

On the positive he is solid in defense. When he threw to home to get the runner that was a good instinct and his arm is very strong for a first baseman.

Our best two hitters are Springer and Bo, not sure who is better but Springer has more power and gets walks so I vote for Springer. After that we can argue is it kirk, vlad, varsho or someone else?

The Cincinnati Reds are the first team in MLB history to make the playoffs in a non-shortened season without any qualifying player:
----hitting .270.
---hitting 15 home runs.
---winning 15 games as a pitcher.
---striking out 200 batters as a pitcher.

Yes to Scherzer, no to Santander.
I agree but Scherzer probably in bullpen role. I see Gausman, Bieber and Yesavage as top 3 starters and then evaluate. Maybe Bieber starts and Gausman goes 2nd but Yesavage #3.

Satander never found his stroke this year and the playoffs are not the time to work on things with the hope of maybe returning to form.

The khakis would never let schnieder move him down, that's how it works when they might be made to look bad. This is why signing bo will be impossible. Bo is the straw that stirs the drink and he should have 500 mil in his jeans too. I'd have vladdy hitting 5th or 6th in clutch situations. I might even put lukes ahead of him, like that guy as a player.

Scherzer has made it an easy decision not to give him another year, he's finished.

His former team mate Justin Verlander is even more cooked than he is. He went 16 starts without a win for the San Francisco Giants. He's 43, he says he wants to return for next season.

Mine:
Springer RF
Barger 3B
Vladdy 1B
Bichette DH cant take chance of re-injuring knee diving
Kirk C
Varsho CF
Lukes LF
Clement 2B
Giminez SS

Gausman would pull him at first sign of trouble, since he's been scuffling lately

Its sad, I like Scherz but I don’t think Max should be in the playoff roster
He’s taking a spot from Fluarty or Nance who’s been great as RP
Bassitt/Lauer are a better option at starting #4 or long relief

I knew for certain Elly had more than 20 HR's, so went and checked up on your stat.
They had 4 players hit 15+ homers, so something is off with your stat. Is it possible that number should be 25 home runs?

15 wins and 200 strikeouts is tough these days ( unlike .270 and 15 HR's). They still have four good starters and two good relivers.

As a team they are just below the NL average in avg, HR's, and runs. And they have 3 or 4 fairly good starters. They are basically the epitome of an average team. And in the 12 team playoff era. sometimes an average 83-79 record can get you in. (Thanks to the New York Mets choking)

Regarding Bo = As of Sunday, he still couldn't take any full swings or face real pitching. He was unable to run. Did you see him come out when they got the clinching out. He was walking with still a bit of a limp.

Bichette will not be back by the ALDS. That is essentially a certainty. Best hope is that he is ready by the ALCS, which would start around October 11.

He ended up with a slightly above average ERA of 3.85, and a FIP of 3.85, which showed his ERA was not based off luck. And 152 innings pitched.
He has far more value than Scherzer entering 2026. He pitched better when he pitched and is less injury prone.

Using win-loss record to heavily evaluate pitchers isn't really a thing in 2025.
