Which means maintenance wasn't kept up, older tech was still in place, and this is due to decades of lack of oversight. And shoddy infrastructure/equipment upgrades.
Its a systemic problem. With both parties taking money from the railways. Add in the lack of response initially, Pete's horrible response(which was my origional point before the apologists tried to derail his part in this), the media taking the Railway's side until on the ground reportage by independent media exposed the problems, and its a cluster fuck.
And deflecting to the partisan blame game does nothing for the people in East Palestine. Try giving a shit about them instead of your personal politics.
You are jumping to conclusions, the cause of the bearing failure has not been indentified as poor maintenance.
Many factors can lead to bearing failure other than poor maintenance.
I am not blaming any party for this, you seem to be, it has been determined the fault lies with the railway, they will have to come good for the cleanup costs.
I am concerned with the welfare of the people of East Palestine, my personal politics are not aligned with any party, especially those in another country.
I find it hilarious that I have been called a lefty and a righty by different people on this board for simply posting the facts of the matter at hand.
Review my posts, I have defended, or brought attention to shortcomings of, politicians from either party in the US.
FYI over the years as I have said before, I have voted for politicians in Canada, federally, provincially, and municipal who were Liberal, NDP, Conservative and Independant depending on which one would screw things up the least.
I have never voted along party lines just because of that parties leader.
