By the end of his tenure he was about as popular as a pork chop at a Jewish wedding. Even worse than when Mulroney left office.
But when Mulroney was booted out, Liberals won. When Harper was booted out Liberals won. Justin left, Liberals won.

AHHHHHHHH, if I smoked, I'd have a cigarette just like after having good sex.

Graphs like this are misleading.

In the USA there is a big difference between average wage and median wage. Average US wage is high because of the dispropritionate number of billionaires and hundred millionaires in that country.

The US median wage is comparable to the Canadian median wage especially when you factor in a PPP adjustment and the universal health care adjustment. ChatGPT (if it is accurate) reports that the US median wage is $62,000 USD and the Canadian median wage is $60,000 USD.

Having said that, I believe that Justin Trudeau was objectively the worst Prime Minister that Canada has ever had.
this is interesting

how long do you think Canada can afford universal health care?
  • an aging population
    • health care utilization will increase
  • health care inflation double the cpi
  • stagnating productivity
  • massive unsustainable debt at all levels of govt
  • massive unsustainable debt at the consumer level
  • Trump will steal market share from our auto, steel, aluminum and forest industries
  • east / west division and an open invitation to Alberta to join the US --yikes !
  • a lunatic federal govt intent on shutting down our resource sectors
  • open boarders adding millions expecting free health care
one or two generations ?
5 years?

Interestingly, DDDLover can no longer be found here. I think we need to remember that we must refrain from racist remarks and ad hominem attacks.

The only industrialized country in the world that can't afford universal health care is america.
explain

what is wrong with you ?
i just explained why we will not be able to afford universal health care
the budget does not balance itself and there will be a cost to Canadians for electing fools who think budgets balance themselves

So you think we should have elected the guy who spends the most in parliament instead of the banker because you were worried about the budget?

GDP per capita is not entirely an useful metric when assessing the economic well-being of a population.
GDP per capita measures economic output per person, not wealth or income distribution.
The United States has a higher number of billionaires and greater income inequality than Canada, which skews the mean upward.
As a result, GDP per capita gives an unrealistic picture of typical prosperity.
Using the median instead provides a clearer view and by that measure, the average Canadian is wealthier than the average American, even if income levels are lower in Canada.

Well, if I remember Macroeconomics correctly GDP=comsumption+capital investment+government spending+net export. U.S. government is a smaller part of economy then in other countries, U.S. imports is more than exports, so, the only ways GDP can go to are consumption and investment. Billionaires consume a very small portion of their income, and investment means future economic growth and higher consumption. So, just from the aggregate data, regular American Joe consumes more than Australian Mike.

Well, considering this thread is also about how Canadian debt will destroy the country, how does this figure in?

Him being on a boat means he's not prime minister anymore.🤣🤣😂😂

and that is the most painful turn of events for the moron / egomaniac Trudeau
he wanted to become PM not because he wanted to help Canadians (into a lower standard of living) rather because he wanted to be the center of attention
you watch, this egomaniac will soon be craving public attention again

what a pile of non-sense
there has been wealth inequality since the day the first cave man had an apple and the second cave man did not
the second caveman had a choice, demand/ fight for half the apple or walk a mile to the apple tree

gdp / cavemen = one apple /two cavemen
or
gdp / cavemen = two apples /two cavemen
there is no question which scenario is best for all and creates the most wealth / prosperity

we live in a capitalist society
capitalism means you have to compete
the desire to compete is embedded in our DNA
you can not change human nature

now pay attention

you will never , ever eliminate inequality and will cause much damage by trying to force it onto others

Australia is far more dependant on trade

Canada is far more dependant on trade

this is trumps leverage in his trade war

those that advocate for waiting trump out are delusional

he is going to exert economic force on Canada and it will be very painful for Canadians

You are confusing aggregate consumption (GDP is aggregate) with average individual wealth.
Canada has a higher median wealth than the U.S. primarily because of a more equal distribution of wealth, a stronger social safety net, and lower national debt.
While the U.S. has a higher mean wealth and higher average salaries, wealth is more concentrated among the very wealthy.
Therefore the majority of the middle and lower classes that make up the population have less of the overall wealth compared to Canada.
