Johnny would make a great stand up comic. Daniele Smith must be thirsting for some hot wheelchair sex.

It's cynical, politicians can make fat skim from privatizing health care. From what I've read you don't want to get sick in Saskatchewan.

Are you so stunned that you do not understand the biggest threat to universal Health Care is the lefts irresponsible spending and debt accumulation

In 2023, Canadian federal and provincial governments spent a combined $81.8 billion on interest payments. This includes $46.5 billion in interest payments from the federal government and the remaining amount from the provinces and local governments.
that is $80 billion not spent on health care

The biggest threat to the debt and universal health care are conservatives.
Pee Pee wants to do what trump is trying to do, cut taxes for the rich and medicaid at the same time.

An ambitious House bill to cut taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars and pay for part of it by slashing Medicaid spending faces a rocky path in the Senate, where Republican lawmakers warn the changes to the safety net program could hurt rural hospitals and reduce benefits for their constituents.

Pay attention Lefties, if Alberta separates then Trump will support that by annexing Alberta and turning it into the 51st Sate.
Once that starts there will be a domino effect, Saskatchewan, BC and Manitoba will probably follow suit, and Quebec wont be far behind.

And what are the Eastern Canadian Libs gonna do about it?? Absolutely nothing.
Trump will back separation by using his military if need be, and Carney will fold faster than a Titanic deck chair :D

A few months ago only 20% of Albertans wanted to separate. Latest figure I heard on the news is now 36% (and growing each month).
Next 4 years under Carney are gonna be very interesting

Quite the active imagination you have there cletus

We know how the righties on this Board cheered when Brexit won the Referendum in UK. What a disaster it turned out to be, with the British bitterly regretting it, and Cameron then resigning as PM. Then it turned out to be a clown show with BoJo in charge, and later on his successor having the reputation of being the shortest term PM in the History of that nation. Danielle Smith has not learnt the lessons of Brexit but instead is seemingly rubbing shoulders with these Separatists:

Separatists release potential Alberta referendum question, expect Danielle Smith to join cause
Alberta Prosperity Project says premier should hold referendum in 2025, with UCP base heavily pro-secession

This could be a new smoking gun with Danielle and her husband's involvement in lobbying the Government:

Danielle Smith denies allegations her husband lobbied the government
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is denying an allegation from former UCP MLA Peter Guthrie that she allowed her husband to act as an unregistered lobbyist for a new rail project.

A 60% Majority in Alberta would vote to stay, rather than leave:

Referendum Reality? Half in Alberta & Saskatchewan call for vote on independence, but fewer would actually leave

Its amazing how unable to learn from past mistakes most cons and MAGA are.
They keep pushing economic models that fail, attacking vaccines that save lives and then reenacting failed ideas like Brexit.

I think Albertans do realize Carney by comparison will make
a more fossil-fuel-friendly PM than Trudeau.

Carney can easily obliterate any likelihood of separation
of Alberta by making pledge of support of oil sands production
growth into the future plus construction of pipelines for
transport of fosil fuel to Eastern Canada. He can still implement
policies of fighting climate change by pledging to achieve zero
emission by 2050.

That said, Alberta would be wise to stop being so bloody oil-centric. The entire culture of that province is centred on oil.

One of the biggest problems with being a single-resource extraction economy is that it seeps into the collective mindset of Albertans and they want to protect it beyond any and all reason.

It's pretty sad. Alberta could become a renewable energy powerhouse worldwide if they started decades ago. Peter Lougheed, the one sane, non-grifter Conservative premier Alberta has had, established the Heritage Fund back in the 1970s to use the province's massive surpluses to finance future economic growth, largely by diversifying the province's economy and creating new opportunities.

Rather than doing that, Alberta plundered the fund and spent like a poet on payday.

................................
Would you still call Alberta 'bloody oil-centric' if it is Albertan oil you
are consuming in Ontario?

If the answer is yes it is perhaps better for us in Ontario to continue
importing oil from the U.S., Saudi and Iran. And no pipeline is to be built
linking Western to Eastern Canada.

Tell this to the Liberals who opened up Newfoundland for a $12 billion
deep water oil drilling project in a region where a $12 billion investment
in renewable offshore wind power project would be more beneficial in
the future.

People invest their money where bigger profit is to be made.

The feds never stopped oil sales.

Alberta could have done a Norway and put the cash in the bank, now they have masses of tailings and old wells and nothing in the bank.

DO YOU AGREE THAT THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA SHALL BECOME A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY AND CEASE TO BE A PROVINCE OF CANADA? YES NO

When confronted by the discombobulated monstrosity of a 258 word long SOV-ASS referendum question, Jacques Parizeau is reported to have wryly commented that it might have been simpler
and more honest to ask Quebecers if they wished to be independent.
Danielle Smith should know that her referundum, if she goes ahead with the APP version above, will likely go down in blazing defeat, with resultant egg on her face.
The Can Cons brought their big guns out of retirement, Manning and Harper, to throw their weight behind PP. Danielle even flew to Mar a Lago to play footsie with the Don. They failed.
What should have been a Con majority, after having led by more than 20 points for the longest of time, PP ended up handing victory to Carney. He still persists with his odious pugnacity and conflates Carney with Trudeau. It is time to wake up and recognize that the election is over but that the country is still facing an existential threat and other enormous challenges. So Preston, pl stop already with your silly prognostication that Mark Carney will be the last Prime Minister of Canada.
If Danielle stops pretending that Alberta is Houston North and instead comes to the negotiating table with constructive ideas, she might find in Carney a receptive listener.
