Far more people die of the cold than the heat. If you truly care about people (which many Climate Activists don't), heat isn't the issue.More people will care about climate change, have you seen what's going on in California right now?

90% of humans will suffer extreme heat, drought due to climate change
A new study puts a number on the shocking number of people who will be affected by extreme heat and drought in the future thanks to man-made climate changewww.salon.com
Exactly. Once again Trudeau puts his personal view ahead of the Canadian economy. I would like to know who told Trudeau that a NG pipeline to the east coast wasn't a good business case.Yup, HUGE missed opportunity for additional tax revenue and jobs.
Just how much incremental health care and/or other social spending could have been funded if Trudum hadn't stated "there isn't a business case".
Just dumb.
What tiny numbers.Far more people die of the cold than the heat. If you truly care about people (which many Climate Activists don't), heat isn't the issue.

Climate and health: mortality attributable to heat and cold
The European heatwave of 2003 showed the potentially disastrous effects of heatwaves. About 70 000 premature deaths resulted, notably in France, and a series of lethal heatwaves have subsequently occurred in several countries.1 However, less well appreciated is the similar burden of mortality...www.thelancet.com
What what you're arguing is that, if you care about people, Air Pollution is a much, much, MUCH serious problem that Climate Change? Perhaps we should be focussed on shifting to Nuclear Power as soon as possible instead of killing our economy that actually pays for these infrastructure changes?
I support such a pipeline and think it could be be built to respect the objections raised. I also believe that man-made climate change is real and a threat to society that we will have to deal with one day, no matter what. (While I am at it, I strongly oppose the vulgar tar sands petroleum industry in Canada. it is wrong on so many levels. I have been there for business a lot and know enough to know how fundamentally horrific it is)Exactly. Once again Trudeau puts his personal view ahead of the Canadian economy. No, I'm arguing that the damage from fossil fuel includes climate change and air pollution. What what you're arguing is that, if you care about people, Air Pollution is a much, much, MUCH serious problem that Climate Change? Perhaps we shouldn't be abandoning Nuclear Power since every country that has, has replaced it with dirty power?

In Global Energy Crisis, Anti-Nuclear Chickens Come Home to Roost
In virtually every country that has closed nuclear plants, clean electricity has been replaced with dirty power.foreignpolicy.com
I think we will agree to disagree.I support such a pipeline and think it could be be built to respect the objections raised. I don't think anyone told Trudeau that a gas pipeline does not make a good prima facie business case.
But the absolutist politics and policies of Quebec have always, and will always, stand in the way, Never mind local vagaries of Indigenous tribal politics and local municipal governments.
As will the power of the global anti-carbon movement.
Trudeau does not have the political power, anticipated longevity nor the political will to accomplish this. Even if he wanted to.
So time to accept this reality and move on to.
Ah yes, the old "time to get off of them" magical thinking where we don't have any cost-effect & actually useful direct replacement that performs similar useful productivity & work. No, I'm arguing that the damage from fossil fuel includes climate change and air pollution.
Time to get off of them.

I propose that any Terbite joining within the last 6 months at least retain that "new member" designation, though "peanut gallery" would often be more appropriate...

Ah yes, that 'its too hard so lets just keep burning fossil fuels' argument.Ah yes, the old "time to get off of them" magical thinking where we don't have any cost-effect & actually useful direct replacement that performs similar useful productivity & work.
quebecExactly. Once again Trudeau puts his personal view ahead of the Canadian economy. I would like to know who told Trudeau that a NG pipeline to the east coast wasn't a good business case.
Ah yes, too bad for Alberta when "renewables" didn't work in the extreme cold huh?Ah yes, that 'its too hard so lets just keep burning fossil fuels' argument.
Renewables are already cheaper, storage is being solved and most people want to buy EV's already.
Canada spent $15 billion subsidizing oil and gas last year.Ah yes, too bad for Alberta when "renewables" didn't work in the extreme cold huh?
"storage is being solved" not for the next 10 years easily. The only thing that will solve the cost storage problem is regulation that will make everything WAY WAY more expensive and thus bam, storage is 'cheap'.
"most people want to buy EV's" - oh yes because everyone can afford the huge upfront costs of EVs. Particularly those in rural areas...
More magical thinking.
