Who said he was in the handi-vac ?
Don't get me wrong,I don't think they should bring him back, even with him the show was out of steam and it had pretty much reached it's end, but his death is vague enough he can be brought back if they wish.. which I doubt as Kutcher is getting half the salary Charlie was.

Well then Allen was talking to an empty handi-vac. (see 19:45)

You have to use storyline logic here, and there are some things you are not considering.

1) Allen is talking to what he believes to be Charline's ashes.

2) The body was so badly damaged when it was hit by the train, it was a closed coffin funeral. I believe there was a joke along the lines he exploded like a meat bag when he was hit by the train.

3) As told by Rose , the mentally imbalanced character of the show , it was quite clear they were to be married, she went shopping only to find him in the shower with another women when she came back, and the next day, he fell in front of a train.

Rose is nuts, who's to say Charlie is not locked up somewhere, where Rose can do with him as he pleases ( she has kept him drugged for days in previous episodes) and the body they found was someone else she threw in front of the train.

Yes this scenario does require some suspension of belief , but for a sitcom it is not an unreasonable , albeit a bit dark, scenario.

Rod Serling would be proud, but all are possibilities. Most show runn out steam in 7-9 years and I suspect this one with the changes won't be any different. I was finding even last season was becoming stretched.

Agreed, this really should be the last season, but what better way to wring out every last cent from the show then the publicity Sheen has created ? I'm sure for at least the first portion of the series ratings will go up or at least remain high as people will be tuning in out of curiosity too see how the new guy does, .. and when that wears off ( unless Kutcher somehow revies the show which I doubt ) then float out rumours that charlie is returning.

You get one more season of good ratings, then cut the show and move onto other things.

This was the worst episode they had so far last night.
The show is not the same with Charlie Sheen will give it two more episodes to see if it gets funny.
The producers on this show are just plain old idiots they just settled with Charlie Sheen for $25mil plus royalty fees and their show is going to tank but obviously Charlie Sheen is still WINNING.

The episode got its best rating ever,28 million viewers, im sure alot of people tuned in just to see how they killed Charlie off. Im sure the ratings will fall off drastically next week, be lucky if they get half the audience.

I'm a big fan of the first eight seasons but truthfully I started to think the show had jumped the shark in the last episodes of season 8 when Charlie was easily duped by Rose who was a HUGE step down from the hotties on the show up to that period of time.

I can't believe that critics were suggesting from the first episode numbers that AK was in proved that he is worth the money. A trained monkey pissing in a fountain would have drawn the same audience after all the hype..

*** Caught the show on a torrent last night. I was very disappointed. The supporting cast just wasn't as funny. If they don't get some chemistry going soon - I think I'm on to something else.

I kept seeing Kelso from that 70's show. Sounds like him, looks like him, I don't like him.
The show started running out of steam in season 7, if Hollyweird cared more about the craft than money they would of sewed up lose ends and ended the show in season 7.
I did like that joke where Alan explains why people drink and Kelso says "But I am X"
I wouldn't mind being stalked by Rose BTW.

That show afterwords in the diner with Kat Dennigns Breasts was pretty good.

They should re-name this show "2 and 3/4 men". That young guy is getting pretty big.

Never liked this show anyway.

Yep, ive only watched the show in syndication, or the comedy network, I've never bothered to watch it in Prime Time, until last night, for the reason you mentioned, I was simply curious as to how they killed off charlie, after which point I switched to another show.

Actually, it was better than I thought it would be. Not sure how much legs it has as it was almost "done" anyway.

The Dharma & Greg cameo was weird as that show had it's run and then just disappeared. I don't see it in syndication so many people wouldn't even know who they are. I think I saw Jenny McCarthy and Jeri Ryan in the opening funeral scene as ex gfs I would assume.
The Dharma & Greg cameo played into a bit of an ongoing joke the show had going: in one episode, Charlie is up early in the morning to catch the commercial for his new kids tunes CD - and an episode of Dharma & Greg comes on after the commercial airs.

I thought the new episode with Kutcher was lame.

At the funeral, they gave "Russell" a line about trying to collect in $30k receivables for "let's say, pharmaceuticals". But the Russell character was played as a hard-luck pharmacist who used cough medicine to self-medicate, never as a source of illegal drugs.

Another previous episode had Charlie arranging the funeral for his dear departed friend (played by Emelio Estevez), with some foreshadowing in that script, but zero tie-in to the new ep.

Apart from a couple Zune jokes, there doesn't seem to be any sense to why Walden would have >$1B, have no way to relate to his gf, and yet pick up two hotties for a night of wild sex after he tries to kill himself. And we're expected to believe that he wants Allan to live with him after he buys Charlie's Malibu beach house? I'm not expecting much in the line of a coherent story, but that just doesn't cut it.

Episode 1 with AK was one lame ride.

Trying to develop Walden's character and squeezing all the bad jokes during Charlie's funeral was just too much for half an hour..
I think we would have enjoyed it more if they made this a one hour episode so they can develop Walden's character some more.

I am not connecting to Walden character.

I thought it wasn't any worse than last year - like the mother, she's funny. The story line doesn't make any less sense than a guy owning that place who writes jingles. Overall better than the terb reviews would have you think but the whole show had just about run its course story-wise anyway.

Hmm. It actually is a one-hour episode (okay, two continuing half-hour episodes), unlike most episodes which are more self-contained.

Which is to say, there was a "to be continued" at the end of the first AK ep.

Personally, I have no intention to watch any more AK episodes. But that's just me.
