Ahhhh Soccer... my favourate sport in the whole wide world that I am so passionate about. I'm keeping up with the Fifa World Cup 2006 results that will be held in Germany. My only other favourate sport to watch is Formula One racing. I have to make it to Montreal next summer. :D

Here's my boys;

Do you know how many countries try out for the World Cup?
They start playing 1/2 - 2 years prior to the actual Fifia World Cup for only the best teams in the world to make it to the Fifa World Cup. Otherwise the World Cup wouldn't be 3-4 weeks long but more like 3-4 months long.

I don't think so, they are one of the best and will always be one of the best. You can't win them all but it's better to win some of the times then never. I have full confidence in the Italian soccer team, they are always a force to be reconded with. ;)

We'll see in 2006. Currently Italy is in 1st place in their 'Group 5' placement with 5 other teams (countries). *grins*
I follow when the matches are going to be played and my boys are looking good. *wink*

Exactly Escohort...I think Italy needs to change their style of play to become successful. They could also use some young defenders...oh and they will not win anything if Del Piero is still on the team come 2006, what a waste of space he is...he's been on the huge decline since Euro2000

Yes BigE, Del Pierro was a great player at club level but never did squat for his country. And I dont understand why Di Vaio doesnt start for Italy. Excellent player.

Also, LW, you are probably right. Germany is at home and will be tough to beat

In honesty we will have to wait how Klinsman will do as the new coach. I wish they would let Beckenbauer coach.

he is certainly one of the great ones...unfortunately he has to play in the shadow of Rhinaldo and that overrated guy from England...Beckham
... I agree, Ronaldo doesn't exude magic like Pele or Maradona did; and Beckham will never reach the status and skill of George Best. I think Ronaldinho is really the best..., when you watch him play you know it's about the fun and not the money. Just watch the first video on the page I linked to...

With three FIFA World Cup™ titles to their name, Italy count as one of the greatest football nations in the world. Their first title was captured as early as 1934 at the second ever FIFA World Cup, held in their home country. Four years later in France they became the first team ever to successfully defend a FIFA World Cup title.

Their current tally of fifteen World Cup appearances means that they have failed to qualify only once - in 1958 in Sweden. Italy repeated their 1934 and '38 successes in 1982, becoming world champions for the third time largely thanks to an outstanding performance by striker Paolo Rossi. Rossi exploded into action in the knock-out stages, scoring a hat trick against Brazil to put his side through to the semi-final where his two goals against Poland paved the way to the final, where Italy won improbably 3-1 against Germany. Rossi crowned his performance by scoring his sixth goal of the tournament and winning the Golden Boot as top scorer.

The Italian team traditionally draws its strength from a strong national league, with world-famous teams such as AC Milan, Juventus and AC Roma. Italy's Serie A has produced such resonant names as Roberto Baggio, Christian Vieri, Filippo Inzaghi, Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini, Marco Tardelli, Francesco Totti and the legendary Dino Zoff.

But thats not really 100% fair, back in the 30's when they won 2 titles there were only a handful of teams participating. It's not like today where 36 countries are in the finals.

Uruguay also won it once under those circumstances
