I hope they stay closed for the rest of the year, unless there is a drastic improvement with a cure or vaccine.
With the shit show that is going on in the US we don’t need more people who carry the virus.

Unfortunately I happen to live in Montreal and we have our own similar shit show going on with this virus.
We are the New York of Canada.

I totally agree, we must keep the border closed. With Trump, (and various states, mainly Republican lead), pushing to get things opened up as soon as possible, is, I think, akin to officials in Fort McMurry saying, `Nothing to see here folks. Everything`s fine. Go about your daily life.` while the forest fires were still raging! However, having said that, the border closer will have a major impact on cottage country operators this summer, i.e, marinas, hotels, etc, that rely heavily on American tourists. One marina in Eastern Ontario, for example, said that some 70% of his business is with Americans. He`s already had to lay off most of his staff, not sure if they`ll survive.

Add it to the likes of the airline industry and the cruise industry. Almost anything to do with travel is negatively impacted.

These industries are a cancer on society. I'm getting my popcorn and will enjoy the show as they burn to the ground.

Keep the border closed to the US, Mexico, Brazil and India. Canada's covid numbers are declining, let's keep it that way.

Border is closed for now until the end of July . That's a good thing . Keep those stupid fuckers out of our country . They love their freedom so much than stay in your country and holiday there .

Trump is going to hold his GOP convention in Florida . No masks will be allowed to be worn inside the convention building . Just watch how many of these Americans will get sick and bring back the virus to where they live . I can't believe how stupid Americans are .

It's a rich country but filled with millions of stupid people .

Many of these lodges in Western Ontario see Americans . These lodges charge American dollars . Even charge American dollars to Canadians . They don't care about the Canadian tourist because their money comes from Americans . Well not today . Fuck them . I'll bet they are crying the blues now and are looking for Canadians to go to their lodges . Try charging Canadians American dollars now and see what happens . Fuck those lodges charging American dollars .

Running a business in Canada yet they charge American dollars to Canadians . Fuck that . Hope they all go under .

I am doubting that this can extend beyond June 21?!?
It certainly can and I would not be surprised. Numbers of infected are rising in the states. All the protest were for a great cause but will be catastrophic for the spread of the virus.

Out west it's open if you convince customs you are travelling directly to Alaska. Sadly a number of people have seen that loophole.

They should maintain the closure to non-essential travel until the US gets it together. What's happening in some states is alarming to say the least.

Many deceitful USA citizens are sneaking into Canada (by car) by saying they're "going to Alaska". They have no such plan. It's a straight, outright lie.

What I hope Canadian customs can say to them is that they'll need a document from Alaska customs to prove they've been there. Otherwise, they will not be able to return to the USA via Canada.
